    Hey all

Just got my 5672. Overall i liked it, based on first impressions that is. It is lighter than my HP dv4000 and also a little thinner. Altec Lansing on the HP beat the Acer's by a country mile, and yes the touch pad is a tad too warm. (But i guess i have to live with that!)

Onto business. I will get the XP CD soon in order to do a clean install. Now i wanted to noe, if i install the new XP Home, what are my options on installing the new drives. will i be able to connect to the net to download the drives? (I need the wirless network drive to connect don't I?). Should i just dload it onto my HP and burn it onto a dvd and then load it onto the Acer?

Any major things I hav to keep in mind or step-by-step??? Not very savvy with formatting et al.

Help me out guys.. need to do everythin to start having fun with the Acer :D

    Thanks

You need the ethernet driver. Everything else you can download.

I just reforematted my 3003. I went to ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/notebook/. and download the drivers they had and burnt a CD. I went into Bios aand set to boot from CD instead of hard drive. I then reformatted to XP Pro. XP picked up a basic video driver and from there I updaded to the video diver from CD. I then loaded the WIFI driver and was able to connect to my wireless network in my house. I went to the device manager to check for problem devices. I had to update the USB driver and the media driver I believe. All is well now and have my whole hard drive with one partion.
    Hope this helps
    Goodluck

Thanks elmo5409.. i got most of what u did, altho i'm nt sure how to get into bios and change settings. I have an XP CD, the one i got with teh dv4000. U think i can use that? Once that is installed, i can load the other drivers from the CD i burned rite?

To get into the BIOS on the 5672, press F2 when you see the white ACER screen right after you turn on the laptop. It says something like "Press F2 to enter Setup" in the bottom left of the screen if I remember correctly.

It is unlikely you'll be able to use the HP CD, but worth a shot. Ethernet, WiFi whatever allows you to get connected.
