So my girlfriend's laptop broke and left her with a gray screen. She hooked it up to an external monitor and that worked, so I know the screen isn't at fault. She also disassembled down to the lcd and moved a ribbon on the back of the LCD and I guess she saw micro-tears in the ribbon, but I'm not sure the part number or name of it. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5740 (model number ms2286). We are fairly certain the ribbon is at fault.
We've been looking for a while online, but there doesn't seem to be a reputable retailer that has the product. If anyone has any sort of help it'd be great!

Is this what you're looking for?

It's that type of ribbon, yes. Will that fit the 5740? I don't know the difference between models of 5740 and 5738z.

Picture of the cable and what it connects to would help. Part numbers on the cable too.

The only problem is there are two part numbers for that part in the service manual- the one I provided previously and 50.4GD01.011 which is this. -

The cable in the back of the LCD is not a ribbon cable.
Its lots of small wires twisted together to form the LVDS channels.
Need help finding a part..
