I am having trouble finding a few parts for my Aspire 5740.

I am repairing and upgrading the unit simultaneously (not necessarily cost-effective, I know).

    1. I removed the LCD today from the plastic cover. The cover had been damaged, but not the LCD. I found underneath the LCD two pieces of adhesive-backed foam. My replacement top-LCD-cover did not come with these. I peeled them off as best I could (emphasis added), but the adhesive backing largely stayed attached to the foil of the cover. Where can I find these? They have no part numbers on them. I could get some glue and glue them to the new cover (or use double-sided tape), but I'd prefer to purchase new pieces with the backing in place. (See Post #3)

    2. Similarly, I am having trouble finding the LCD bezel. The sticker with a sku on it reads: FOX604CG4300309122415 A03-- 14

    3. I have the "Palmrest Touchpad" chasis/case component, but no touchpad circuit board for it. The board is glued in place on the old one, and removing it would seem to mean certain damage, so I need to find a new one to attach to the new component. So far, no luck. (See Post #2)

    4. Lastly, I already mentioned the Middle Cover, in another post:

I'll add more as I come across them during this project.

Found #3 and took care of it. Still stuck on the others though.

Still need help on this one folks. Any help is appreciated.

I've removed item #1. I eventually gave up finding 3mm adhesive backed foam after I decided that it was becoming a pain to find, and that cutting the pieces myself to match exactly would be difficult. So I was able to somewhat repair the pieces of foam that I removed and attached them using heavy duty double sided tape of multiple sizes so that I was able to cover the entire back of each piece.

Try looking for those two parts meant for Aspire 5738.
It's the same chassis but 5738 used to be produced for a longer period of time so it's probably easier to find parts advertised as 5738 ones.

what is the difference between the 5740 and 5740G as far as parts are concerned?

As far as the chassis is concerned- there's none- only mobo is different.

gotcha. So the Aspire 5738, 5740, and 5740G all have the same chasis... and therefore exterior components (bottom shell, middle keyboard cover, LCD bezel) should be the same?

    Yes- exactly the same.
