I am having a problem booting the system and have to press the ATi logo area all the time to boot up, and I read that it may be the faulty contact problem of ATI chip, so I've searched Acer threads but was not able to find the information about how to open Aspire 5100 down to mainboard. I was able to open the bottom bay and removed keyboard but after removing all the screws at the bottom, still the cover wouldn't lift up easily. I am afraid that pushing up may brake the small plastic tabs. Could anyone help on how to open/lift the cover to see the mainboard?

I got brave then opened it up without breaking the tabs. Placed 3 layers of plastic card (cut into thumb size) on top of the small cushion (under the location of ATi logo), fixed with tape. Now it boots up without two beeps and those PCI errors. Hope this helps!
