    Hi people,

I am interested in getting this particular laptop but i have come across 2 different specifications for it and i am having trouble deciding which one to get.

I mainly will be using it for uni work and playing some games (the most modern game i have is actually GTA San Andreas) and doing some video editing on it maybe.

    Oh I'm from the UK

The specifications of the one i have seen in Tesco Supermarkets (only the Extra stores):

    # Intel Pentium-M Processor 1.7GHz
    # 512MB DDRII SDRAM
    # 80GB Hard Drive
    # DVD Dual Layer Drive
    # 15.4" XGA CrystalBrite Widescreen TFT Screen
    # ATI Mobility X700 PCI-E 64MB dedicated graphics
    # Integrated gigabit LAN and 56k v.90 data fax modem
    # Integrated wireless 802.11b/g
    # Integrated 4-in-1 card reader – reads Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMediaCard, SD Memory Card
    # Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Pre Loaded
    # Includes Cyberlink Power-DVD and NTI CD-Maker
    # 3 USB 2.0 Sockets
    # 4-pin Firewire (IEEE 1394) Port
    # 3.5-hour Maximum Battery Life
    # Weight from 3kg

Price: £748 but as i work in Tesco's I have staff discount which is 10% and that makes it £673.20 and clubcard points

The spec for teh Comet model:
    # Intel Pentium-M Processor 1.7GHz
    # 1GB DDRII SDRAM
    # 80GB Hard Drive
    # DVD Dual Layer Drive
    # 15.4" XGA CrystalBrite Widescreen TFT Screen
    # ATI Mobility X700 PCI-E 64MB dedicated graphics
    # Integrated gigabit LAN and 56k v.90 data fax modem
    # Integrated wireless 802.11b/g
    # Integrated 4-in-1 card reader – reads Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMediaCard, SD Memory Card
    # Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Pre Loaded
    # Includes Cyberlink Power-DVD and NTI CD-Maker
    # 3 USB 2.0 Sockets
    # 4-pin Firewire (IEEE 1394) Port
    # 3.5-hour Maximum Battery Life
    # Weight from 3kg

Price for this is £799.95 instore or £749.95 online, and possibly a whisker under the Tesco standard price if they will price match in store.

Now the only difference I have seen is that the comet model has 1GB of RAM, is the nearly extra £100 worth it?

    Any opinions welcome

Usually cheaper to buy the memory after getting the notebook. You could buy a lot of memory for £100.

    Hi,

Just an update, Tesco appear to have run out of the laptop so i'm having a issue trying to source one from them but one Comet store said he'll price match Tesco and 10% of the difference so i can get it from them for

£742.30, still more than tesco's £673.20 but only because I get staff discount there.

Its now an extra £71 from Comet, worth going for that deal instead or not you reckon guys?

    Many thanks

I think £71 seems a little high for a 512MB stick of memory.
