Well in the Steam sale I recently picked up Gratuitous Space Battles as after looking at the minimum specs I saw my laptop should run this easily however it is now struggling with it, can anyone help me find out why, the minimum specs for the game are:

    OS: Windows XP or Vista
    Processor: 1.5 GHz processor
    Memory: 1GB
Graphics: 3D Card with 128MB video memory
    DirectX®: 9.0c
    Hard Drive: 300 MB
    Sound: Any

Now my 6920G's current specs are:

    OS: Windows XP SP3
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 2GHz
    Memory: 3GB
    GPU: ATi HD3650 Mobility 512mb
    DirectX: 9.0c
    Hard Drive: 250GB

Now as far as I can see this should be easily able to play this game so why is it struggling so much? I even lowered the graphics to the minimum, the same thing happens with Defence Grid as well.

The first thing that came to my mind is one word: throttling.

Failing that, check your temps. It might be time to clean out your fan intake and exhaust.
