I have heard conflicting reports saying that the computer will only recognize 3gb and some saying it will recognize all 4. Well I purchased the G.Skill 2x2012 ram and installed it on my notebook. It will not boot when all 4 gb is installed. It will recognize 2gb when only 1 stick is in (2gb) and works this way in either slot but can't get all 4 to work. I have also been told I need to update the bios. I know enough to get around a computer but have no clue what I need to do to upgrade the bios. I would really appreciate it if someone could give me instructions so I can fire this puppy up. I also have the 200gb travelstar 7200 RPM drive to install but that is for another day.

Are you using 32-bit or 64-bit windows? If you're using 32-bit (which is what they will ship with it unless you ask otherwise), it'll only detect something like 3.2GB of ram. Don't know if this has anything to do with your problem though...

I did not ask for 64 bit so I guess it is 32 bit.

Ok, got the bios update done but it still does not work. Has anyone maxxed out the ram on a 5610z yet? Did anyone else have this problem? Anyone know why I am getting a black screen when trying to boot with both sticks installed?

I spoke with Acer customer service. They want me to send my system in and have them look at it. They said the turnaround would likely be 2-3 weeks but they couldn't even guarantee the time or that they could even get the ram to work.
I'm at the point of just taking my loss and posting this thing on ebay and buying another computer. If anyone can help me fix this I will send out $50 through paypal and give them rep points until a mod stops me.

I have the 5610z with Intel T2080 CPU, and looking at the specs with Acer's eTools, it says that this model maxes out at 2gb ram. I checked Acer's site, and they still only have v3.50 bios up, which is what is on my system now. So no help there.
Need help upgrading memory to 4gb on 5610
