I recently bought an Intel Duo core T7500 off ebay for $18.99. Im thinking for the price the performance im getting is incredible. Specs are 2.2Ghz/4mb/800 FSB . So before installing the CPU i upgraded the bios from stock V1.17 to 1.43 because i heard online thats what your suppose to do. I hope I didnt make a Big goof. I'm starting to think i shouldnt have done this because i got passed downloading the SP1 packet for Windows ultimate vista 64bit , but now its getting the blue screen of death at the end of installing SP2 service pack. and the blue screen of death is saying Kernel data inpage error. From the research ive done online it has something to do with the hard drive. Other then that the computer runs really fast and nice 90% of the time until its under heavy processing or stress. Is there something else im suppose to install to help the upgraded bios not clash with my hardware which seems to be causing malfunctions thus getting the blue screen of death? or is this normal and I have to deal with it. Please reply with help and comments thanks.
oh by the way my Complete model of laptop is the (5315-2135) original bios v1.17. When i was looking at the mother board the bios chip has a yellow sticker that says v1.12 on it though. im not to sure why the sticker was even on there.
OS: Vista Ultimate 64 bit
CPU: Intel core 2 Duo T7500 @ 2.2Ghz/4/800
Ram: 2.0 GB
Graphics: Intel Mobile 965 Express chipset family
Hard drive: Hitachi 150 GB
Mother Board: Acer Acadia ICL50 5315-2135 v1.43
Need help! Cant download Vista Ultimate 64bit SP2 Service Pack. At the end of install right before it should retart and configure the updates it gets the blue screen of death with error reading Kernel data inpage error. Does anyone know what this means or how to fix it? Is this something caused from upgrading the bios from v1.17 to 1.43? i used the WINFLASH. didnt do Ms-dos or boot the bios to laptop.

It has nothing to do with a BIOS update- hen a BIOS update goes bad you know it did as your computer is dead.
There's no such thing as BIOS that didn't install properly or something like that- it's either successful or dead.
What you're experiencing is most likely a software error- it would be best to re-install Widows.
If you suspect that the HDD may be failing pleas post a full SMART- we'll see if anything looks suspicious. -
BTW, 1.43 is not the latest BIOS - 1.45 is.

After several attempts to pin point the problem for my blue screen of death. I tried to un install and re install the SP1 packet then tried to install the SP2 packet. Didnt work. What fixed my problem was going to my computer clicking on my hard drive. Then accessing the Check Disk Diagnostic scan. I then told it to start scan on next boot. On boot i found massive problems with hard drive such as Orphan files, bad clusters ect ect. After an hour of scanning i re-booted and tried to install the SP2 Service pack and Success! it worked. I never had hard drive problems before the bios update though so who knows. Also yes i have updated to the v1.45 bios So far so good.
Also what is the maximium amount of Ram i can fit in this Laptop. On acer its says 2 GB max, but i heard rumors of 3-4 GB. What would be an accurate answer. -
Again- post a SMART status with all attributes.
Filesystem failure is not the same as HDD failure although the latter may cause the former. -
