    Hi!

Today Im deciding my first notebook.

After reading for months this forum and a couple more, today is THE day

3 months ago i try to buy an acer 5672 but it all went wrong.

Now i have to decide between this two options:

    Acer Aspire 5102wlmi TurionX2 1.6 ghz, 512 ddr, ati x1100, pata 100gb

    LG LW 60 Pentium M740 Dothan 533fsb 2mb cache, 1.73Ghz, 512 ddr, ati x600 64mb dedicated and Hypermemory, pata 80gb

My actual desktop: Athlon xp 2600 core barton, 256 ddr, Nvidia FX5200 256mb, ata 40gb.

I really need and want to know if the benchmarks I have found of these two notebooks are better than my desktop to play some games (im not "THE" gamer, only play sometimes Pro evolution soccer 5 = wining eleven 9 or 10 dont remember)

    Acer: 3dmark03 about 1150 points
    LG: 3dmark03 3227 points, 3dmark05 1266 points (lw60, but 100gb sata, 2.0ghz, atix600 128 dedicated)

If you can tell me what games do you play or could be played with those numbers and if those notebooks are better than my desktop....

    Thanks a lot!!!

    Adrian

The 5102 runs decently PES5 in medium settings and low 800x640 resolution, definately is not a gaming notebook.

Its pretty **** slow. About 600 on 3DMark05. And it plays Vice City noticably slower than a mobile ATI MR9600, or even a Xpress x200. Some people are saying it needs a BIOS update for opengl.

My 5102 (in sig) runs most major games pretty good. DOOM 3, FEAR, SWAT 4, HALO etc: etc: all run perfectly on default settings. I never felt a need to use the highest settings. I also ran SWAT 4 & DOOM 3 on Vista with success.

I do however have 2GB RAM instead of 512MB on the 5102 you stated. That might make a diffrence. I'm not sure.

I also never upgraded my BIOS, due to alot of bad reviews. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Only game I've had a problem with was Battlefield 2, it was very stuttery. That said I haven't updated any drivers and I have a pile of things running at startup.

All other games have been fine - Far Cry, Medal of Honor, Rome Total War, Need For Speed Most Wanted, etc.
