I am looking at replacing my board on an Aspire 3050. My question is do I have to replace it with the exact same build/model, or can I use any board that came from any Aspire 3050, that matches the same sata HD. I plan to upgrade the sempron cpu to turion cpu.

I was on ebay and they list different version of the boards. I found 1 that matches exactly, but I was wondering if the others will fit too, other then the PATA and the SATA differences. One ebay store said to buy only the exactly the same one that matches the old one. One store had different models for different prices.

Any board from the 3050/5050 series with sata connector will do.
You can even fit a 3680 board in the case which takes intel cpu (just need to reroute the lan cable, extend the speaker cable and adjust the touchpad cable)
