    Hi,

I need your help, I dont know why my laptop was lost 800MB of RAM, after I upgraded 4GB (2x2GB). Both, Windows XP and BIOS, have recognized 3262KB of RAM. After that I attempted to check with each of RAM, Windows XP and BIOS recognised 2GB. The problem is both RAM equipped at the same time.

I tried to update AMD processor but I found that the software, ver 1.3.2, is older than the current BIOS, 1.36. So it didnot affect.

    What happen to my laptop?

    ACER 4520: AMD Turino 64x2 Mobile Technology TL-58, 2x1.9GHZ
    RAM Currently: 4GB (2x2GB)
    NVIDIA Geforce 7000M
    HDD 160GB

    Thanks a lot!

Simple - a 32-bit operating system like Windows XP can't address (or "use") all 4GB of RAM.
To do that, you'll need to migrate to a 64-bit operating system like Windows XP Pro x64, or Windows Vista.
Your hardware is otherwise more than capable of using 4GB.

    Thanks TehSuigi,

But you know BIOS only recognised 3.2GB, not 4GB.
I mean that what happen with my BIOS? If you have a newer version of AMD BIOS, please tell me.

    Thanks again.

The BIOS itself only recognized 3.2GB? Like hitting F2?
    Hm. That is curious.
Means one of two things - that number will change when you migrate to a 64-bit operating system, or that your chipset is, for whatever reason, 32-bit only, and that's the most you'll ever get out of this laptop.

When the laptop is starting, I hit F2. After memory showed 3.2GB.
Regarding to description of my laptop, it can expand 4GB.
I will try with Windows 7 or Vista and report to technical support team of AMD about my problem.
    Thanks for supporting.

    hey tuntnguyen,

I've decided to upgrade my ACER 4520 (same spec as you have) to 4 gb RAM too. so i guess i'll facing the same problem as you were in before (upgrading BIOS).

i try to click on the link that you post http://www.mediasolution.asia/soft/3632.zip but the link was dead.

    can you guide me on how to;

    1. search for the bios upgrade on the internet (perhaps give me an active link =P)
    2. how to check my existing BIOS version
    3. how to safely upgrade my BIOS

really appreciate your help & time buddy.

    god bless.
