See if it starts a) with the battery but without the power cord plugged-in b) with the power cord plugged-in but the battery removed.

What about the HDD activity- the system isn't starting in the background, is it?
Is the notebook new (by that I mean does the warranty still apply?)

Probably the mobo but you can also test the RAM by starting it with each of the modules in every socket. Maybe one of the modules or memory sockets died- but the mobo failure is by far the most likely reason.

Apologies if you have tried these ideas already

    Remove Battery and power
Hold power key down for 30 secs
Replace battery, Hold down esc key and then press power button. Continue holding exc key for duration of POST or until it freezes again
Try that last step several times . . it can take several tries to work

It was the first thing I tried. The fan of the notebook stops after some sec and there is no noise from HD or something else that says to me that the notebook works.I asked for mobo and ACER sells it 600 euro in ebay is about 150 euro but I am not sure that the problem is mobo.

Well if the battery is ok it is not the adapter.
If it doesn't work on external screen it is not the screen
The keyboard /trackpad should show an error
If it isn't the HDD or RAM or BIOS then there is not a lot left

Worth removing any remaining wireless cards etc as a last chance

If it ran a bit longer I might ask about cooler fitment /thermal compound etc but it is giving up too early for that. I do begin to think from what you have said it is either an electrical problem (loose/broken connections/soldering on graphics chip if you play games) or another motherboard problem.

Economic repair is a bit of problem on older systems . . especially when you compare the new price for that spec . .

This sounds very similar to my problem with my 9920G.

My theory is the graphics card could be dead, this presumably gives an error message that stops booting.

To narrow down the dodgy parts I removed the graphics card and then the laptop booted into windows (heard the music, saw and heard the harddrive activity).

When I bought a gpu from eBay the laptop worked again using an external monitor.

My on board monitor still doesn't work but at least it's usable with a twin VGA cable, serving both pcs.

Hope that helps or gives food for thought as they say.
