Looks pretty promising. I wonder how the new Neo platform 2.0 is going to be compared to 1.0, seeing as I have a Neo 1.0 notebook that I am very satisfied with.

I think as long as it gets ~5 hours of battery life and performs reasonably well (which it will, AMD + ATI graphics = win in terms of performance), it is going to be pretty successful.

Nice ... another great notebook that they can announce and never bring to the states. :D

    Bronsky

Looks like an ultraportable version of the Acer 521. Fudzilla had an article a couple of days ago saying that there are a lot of new AMD notebooks coming out over the summer.

2010 AMD Ultrathin Notebook Platform Announced

"Compared to the last generation ultrathin “Congo” platform, CPU power is up 22%, battery life up from 6 to 8 hours (with a 62Whr battery) and reduced power usage. One slide mentions the 8 hours is “resting” and 4 hours “active”. So we go from 2 hours, to 4 hours."

Resting ?!?!? Only 4 hours of use then? I suppose that by "resting", they mean "on low settings". I sure hope that that's what they meant, otherwise it's just absurd.

edit : here's the slide they mentioned :

"almost" 4 hours active battery life............

This Acer definitely has the nicest chassis so far but I think I'd personally go for the HP dm1 because I expect a better warranty plan from them. MSI has the U250 coming out with the 45nm Neo too.....though MSI takes forever to get their notebooks to market.

It's great that so many companies are producing Neo models to choose from.

how does the ATI 4225 vid card compare to the intel intergrated graphics like the 4500, or some of the nvidia discrete cards?

There's also a 10.1" Aspire One 521 using the single core V105 Neo.

The HD4225 IGP should be on par, or better than the Nvidia 9400M IGP that ION is based on.

I lilke the look of the HP DM1 too. Will it have an aluminum case? And, which CPU will it have - at least a Turon II K625?
