I am interested in the fact that it has an ATI XGP port, where the only other notebook I've seen with that port is a Fujitsu Amilo notebook only available in Europe. This lets you use ATI's proprietary external graphics card solution to boost the graphics in the notebook. I don't see it getting much use in a netbook though, the processor would be the bottleneck in gaming.
And I didn't see an HDMI port on it either. -
$724? I'd pass on that, and stick with the 1410.
-
The congo platform would be the fastest platform for mobile gaming in the netbook catagory and ultra portable sectors .
-
I guess it depends what you want/need. I have a fairly powerful 15" laptop, and bought the 1410 mainly to just use when I don't feel like carrying the 15" around.
-
How does it compare to a Core 2 Solo? I will admit I like the color scheme but the design could be better.

The hd3200 will tounce over all IGPs in the market. Dedicated gpus will of course be better.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-780g-chipset,1785-10.html
It should double the performance of the x1250/70 in most things and has dx10. It should also increase battery life and allow decoding of 1080p.
This would be perfect for the 11-12 inch netbook. ultra slim market a step up from everything out there. I haven't seen it compared to an ion yet but it should at least match it.
whats great is if they put the xpg port on the system you could in theory upgrade the graphics in the future.
I'd love this in the gateway lt31 form factor and price ! -
I would be happy to see some competition at least
But Ferrari?! What an ugly design. Something for little boys maybe...
I hope AMD will close the gap in power consumption compared to Intel in the future. Any details on L310? -
So the how does this compare to lets the Dual Core Neo, and the SU9x00 line?

If there's an option for a 1.6Ghz Turion Neo X2 like on the HP dv2 I'd consider buying one. Would also need an XGP box equiped with a low end 5000 card for DX11 support though.

not a hands on though just confirms a dual core 1.2ghz cpu.
Way to much at over $700. This would make a good 1410t replacement -
You can't convert Pounds or Euros to USD and get the price of computers.

True. Like I said though it would work well in the $450 range for me , more than that and no thanks. -

I'd be happy regardless of what price it is in that 3-figure range, as I need such a small machine for some professional multimedia applications where real-time performance requirements for the CPU are just too much for other netbooks.

Sadly nobody can come up with some links to technical details. If it is indeed just a dual core neo it will suck the battery dry as if there were no tomorrow.

Well I thought these cpu were suppose to be replacements of the older line. I can see it being a dual core, but I would have thought it maybe using less power?
-
Personally I could care less about the IGP. Once we see these with su9400's or better I'll be replacing my LT-3103u., until then I'll wait.........

Its a Ferrari netbook! I shoulda held off on my 1410 and bought this.
Okay, not really, since its going to be such a bloody ripoff, but I do like the idea of carbon fiber on my netbook.
EDIT: after looking at Engadgets pics: ewww, no HDMI, and ewwwwww that's really terrible looking, actually. Inside is okay, but the lid is god-awful, and so are the red accents.... -
Would you rather it be Lambo yellow like the Asus line?
-
Yeah, actually, I think I would. *dreams of an Asus Lamborghini VX-EEE netbook* I could deal with that, really.
Most of the reason is because Asus has generally classier design touches when it comes to their supercar laptops than Acer. However, they are priced accordingly; the Asus Lambo line used to go for 30-40% more than the Acer Ferrari line. Quality was correspondingly better too though. -
Not to get really OT, but what about Toshiba and the Ducati based laptop? I really like the color and lid looks way better than what Acer did with this. I don't mind the color really, just find the lid design to be a bit on the ugly side.
-
I still say Lenovo and Volvo would be the best team up for a car themed notebook.
Not only do their names rhyme but they also have the matching image behind their products. -
A Lenovo-Volvo collaboration laptop would either kill me or be the best car-themed laptop ever.
I didn't care too much for the Toshiba Ducati laptop. It was inoffensive, but too understated....I dunno. The Asus Lambo units were really flashy, but ultimately too expensive to be successful. Granted, exclusivity was probably the whole point.
The Ferrari One has the same port positioning and layout as the 1410, so they're still using the AO751 chassis on all of these. Best way to seduce supercar lovers - take a $299 computer, paint it red, tack on some Ferrari badges, and sell it at 3 times the original price. High fiiiiiive! -

Little off-topic, but for the sake of comic relief, and since Lenovo used to be IBM....
Back when Spencer F. Katt was doing his hilarious 'Katoons' as part of his weekly page in E-Week, he had a similar one about mergers that was just too much!!
Sorry for the interruption. -
it comes with ATI XGP, anyone know what this is?

but...is the su4100 powerful enough to push the XGP!?
Are the 1810tz & XGP going to release at the same time? -
Ferrari Netbook? :: *Scratch head*:: .... Wow, thats neat!

it uses the same chassis, but no Intel CULV here. It will be powered by a dual core AMD cpu -

$499 ain't a terrible price but I'd rather pay that for a 1.6Ghz Neo x2 then for the Ferrari branding and faux carbon fiber finish.
-
$500 isn't terrible if the cpu(im assuming dual core right?) is better than Core 2 Duo SU 7x000 or even SU9x00 cpu. I now notice what is wrong with the design, its that cut off size design, and the track pad design. If those were "standard" looking, with out the cut off and such, I could honestly say it wouldn't look as bad.
-
no HDMI is a definite deal breaker! those who get the XGP module will be ok, as it will have DVI/HDMI. but c'mon no excuse not to have it directly on the notebook...
guess i'll wait for ION2...
