Just came across this article..

"Now Acer has raised the bar with announcements in January that if just one pixel dies on any notebook, tablet, or monitor (within 12 months) the unit will be replaced within two hours. No premium is charged and the promise spans all product lines in all sizes."
Is this true? if i purchase a acer notebook and dead/stuck pixels occur.. i'll be able to bring it back and they'll fix it in 2 hours? Anybody heard of this? Is this only in the United States or in Canada also?

The dead pixel policy I'm not sure about, but the repair a unit in 2 hours is true. Since you're in Toronto, you're in luck. Their service centre is located in Mississauga (403 & Dundas, I believe) and they will repair a notebook/desktop within 2 hours while you wait. You have to speak to a Support Rep first and get authourization to drop the unit off for repair. Once authourized and dropped off, you can just hop over to the Chapter's bookstore across the street and read a book and have a cofee while you wait.

woww. GREAT!
do i need to bring any paper work? or do they just check my warranty information on their computers? -
finally, Canada has an advantage!
-
Have they changed their policy? I have new laptop and I just saw that I have one dead (black) pixel. Do they really change the screen if you have only one dead pixel on it??
-
So whats their current policy on dead pixels?

From Acer Canada website:
Limited Warranty*
One-year parts and labor limited warranty* with concurrent International Travelers Warranty**
*For a free copy of the standard limited warranty end-users should see a reseller where Acer products are sold or write to Acer America Corporation, Canadian Operations, 5540 McAdam Road, Mississauga, ON L4Z 1P1.

TFT displays commonly exhibit a small number of discolored dots, so-called nonconforming pixels. This phenomenon is a limitation of TFT LCD technology, not a product defect and, as such, is not covered by the limited warranty or by the upgrade programs.

But nothing about dead pixels, unless you consider this a dead pixel. I don't. Dead is dead. -
I read somewhere on the internet that had a chart of dead pixel policies for each company.. and for Acer, it was if it had a single dead pixel in the center viewing area.. they would fix it.. but it would take up to 3 on the outsides of the viewing area for them to fix it.. correct me if im wrong..
New Acer Dead Pixel Policy?
