I'm on my second replacement Acer extensa 5430 computer and my second brand of router and I still am encountering a problem that Acer doesn't seem to be able to tell me why it's happening. I'm not a computer expert, so I'm hoping someone here can give me some ideas as to what the problem is.
When I bought my compter (2 weeks ago), I bought a brand new D-Link N router to enable me to connect to the internet on my computer. Both my computer set up and the router were installed professionally and the router runs through my PC/modem and it worked perfectly. The problem is that it peridiodically freezes my Acer and then the screen goes blank. The only thing you can do is turn the laptop off and then reboot. This happened several times a day, and the laptop would freeze even when not connected to the internet. I returned the computer and they gave me a replacement and I even returned the modem and got a different brand (Belkin N). Re set up again (professionally) and boom!! It's doing it again!! Now, it can't be the router, because it's a totally different one..........Acer has no idea, and I'm at a loss. Sometimes it happens ever 10 or 15 minutes, sometimes it can go for several hours before freezing up! I'm so frustrated and at a loss as to what I can do, other than just return the whole lot and forget I ever wanted a laptop!
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem with freezing. But I was connecting to other laptop which shared me internet connection. So, problem is in wifi (not in router) and i think in drivers. If you downloaded atheros, try foxconn. ( ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/travelmate_5530/driver/)
EDIT: My problem probably resovled installation of South bridge driver named SMBUS v.5.10.1000.6 from ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/extensa_5420/driver/
