Just noticed XP will not recognise these new sata disks during install and since floppy drives dont come on these new laptops theres no way to load the drivers, so if you plan to dual boot Vista with XP you may hit a brick wall.

If you plan to use XP more then its prob best to ask to downgrade to XP from Vista.

Otherway is hacking some files it seems.

#1. learn how to slipstream windows xp disks to include the needed files

#2. A usb floppy drive costs like 10 bucks tops..... please take this into account when you do decide to downgrade.....

    #3. do your homework :p

#4 Some laptops have the option in the BIOS to turn off native SATA support, disabling this will enable the installation of XP without the need for any slipstream or floppy/USB drive. The SATA support is enabled after installing the necessary SATA drivers.

#5 This not a problem with all new SATA based notebooks. Some notebooks with SATA drives can downgrade to XP without any issues.

No problem during my installation of Win XP on my ACER 6292 which was intended for VISTA.

I changed my hard disk and re-installed using Win XP and with SATA driver on a USB floppy drive.
