I think that the premise behind the Timeline range is terrific: Thin, light, feature packed laptops with a battery life that should have been the industry standard years ago, all for an affordable price. The only problem is those pesky core solo processors that adorn most of the lineup. My question to acer fanatics everywhere, is what have you heard about new timelines coming in the future? My goal is to get a 14 inch or 15.6 inch Timeline with a dual core processor for the price that either of those could be gotten for online at the moment ($525-600 on sale in stores/regular price online) Clearly, right now, thats not happening, as the dual core versions of the 14 and 15.6 inch timelines are not only not exactly available directly in america, but also to get them you have to shell out nearly $2,000!

Does anyone see a future for dual cores across the timeline range in the future (i can only stall my decision until the end of the year... i need something when i trek to the EU in 2010, so December is the end of my "future") Have there been any hints, rumors, product announcements that are showing a move toward that? if its hopeless... and the prospect of the CULV dual core chip ending up in a $500-600 timeline before 2010 is as laughable as sarah palin trying to be an intellectual... be honest about it

Dont know where ur looking mate but $2000 for a $599 timeline ?
They should all be available in the USA before the end of the year, just like they are in ROW...

Or just wait till you get to the EU and buy one here (Dutch model has US keyboard) or buy a new US keyboard when u get back to the states, acer told me the Keyboard cost $49 as a spare part

wow... that was exactly what i was looking for... sucks i guess... on the other hand this may mean the prices for all of the 14 and 15 inch range will drop dramatically as acer tries to sell them, thoughts?

and as for the posts first reply, its not $2000 for a $599 timeline. the single core model (available in the USA) costs 599. the dual core model (which only comes with additional features like bluetooth, 3G and Wimax) which is only available right now in the EU, costs around $2000 (1200 Euros) if you convert to USD
