Acer won't let me burn the recovery disks to a USB drive. However, let's say I theoretically get the recovery disks on an external USB drive, could I perform a factory installation to a newly installed SSD drive? Would there be alignment issues? What's the best way to go about this? Thank you!

hi,
How that? You happen to use one of these spec-violating slim drives without power supply?
Get the free 30 days trial of Phantom Drive. This installs a virtual DVD burner that allows you to create ISO images of the recovery discs (don't forget the drivers and applications disc also). You can then transfer these images to another computer, where you can burn them using some more reliable DVD writer (and software - I recommend ImgBurn, which is free also).
Nearly. The recovery partition will not be restored if I remember correctly.
I don't think so. The recovery discs of my 1810TZ look like a modified Windows 7 install disc, not like a plain, dumb disc image. So I assume, the alignment will be done automagically during Windows setup and installation.
