HI everyone... I might be in need of help..i have read a previous post about bios and switching boot options when loading but here is my story:

Ok, wife's pc al of a sudden wont bot anymore... i try to get it to recognize things wont do anything....i do an acer ALT + F10 and was able to recover Vista on it...went from Vista to the Windows 7 Upgrade and it hung in middle and then wouldn't load Vista anymore..i was left with 2 partitions with Vista/7. After that it was a solid day of rebooting hanging on setup screens, not recognizing anything to boot into, no more ALT/F10 that partition got wiped... it would either do one of the following:

    1. post, then reboot on the welcome to windwos screen
    2. post then no bootable media
    3. post but tell me the netowkr boot is enabled and not boot
    4. post, but hang on any type of OS setup I tried

Finally I used partition wizard to search and recover the large partition so I could remove it then it allowed me to use the Windows 7 upgrade and actually install it completely....i thought it was going great. Today my wife IM'd me and told me it just crashed and now says "no bootable media found"

So I walked her through changing the boot to IDE0 and then it booted fine....
its a little concerning though...why it did that...

    questions:

    1. Do i need to upgrade the bios?
    2. Should I dl that Acer erecovery thing again from the site? Does it make a separate partition with it on it? I did make a small D: drive just in case.

    Thank you so much!!!!

    Hi,

this could be a bad hard disc. I'd suggest to get the " Ulitmate Boot CD" and try the HDD diagnostic tools to check your HDD.

Hmm... what else can I do? Windows 7 is just randomly crashing now and restarting...the boot order problem doesn't happen all the time but i Just installed a fresh Windows 7...

Is it a bios issue? In which case it doesn't matter what I do really unless I update bios?
