Hello everyone, I recently purchased an Aspire 7003 and am very happy with it. Just a small niggle, I have done something (don't know what !) but on start up I have lost the Acer Logo. I just get a black screen until Windows loads and then all is OK and everything works perfectly. I don't get the DOS screen either which normally comes up at start up (in black and white). I think that the option to boot into the Bios came up too, (F2?). It is no big deal but I would like it back. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What you are referring to is the quiet boot screen and its a bios setting. When the first screen comes up after you turn your computer on hit F2 or F1 (my bios is F1) to enter setup. Once you are in the bios you will find a setting called quiet boot or diagnostic boot. Change it and you will get your acer screen back. Go all the way to the right and exit and save changes and it should be their.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is the first screen which I see on the computer is the log in screen. I think that Windows has loaded at this point. I have tried to press F2 during the boot process but all I get is a beep and then the screen remains black with no hard drive activity and no more progress. To continue the boot process I have to press Ctrl +Alt+Del and the boot process continues until Windows loads normally up to the log in screen. When I click on the user account then everything is normal. I don't think I am hitting F2 at the right time? but I have tried to press it at different times with no effect.

I honestly don't know why this is bothering you. Do you REALLY want to be reminded everytime you boot up that you own an Acer? :p

eSetting (part of empowering app.) can also adjust boot option in BIOS.
Your question should be "Enable fast boot" option.

Thanks for the suggestions people. I am not really bothered about the Acer logo but I would like to be able to get into the Bios sometime and cannot seem to hit F2 at the right time. I have cleared the tick box for "Fast Boot" and it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Try hitting delete on start up instead of F2.

Still no joy I am afraid, pressing Del just stops the booting process. To continue booting I have to press CTRL+Alt+Del then it boots normally. One other thing, I don't get the POST beep either at the start of the boot process.
    Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

As a follow up to this thread I removed the battery as a safety issue as I only use computer on mains power. On switch on, the Dos screen came up and I was able to hit F2 at the right time enabling me to get into the bios. The option for "quiet boot" was disabled so I enabled it. Now I get the Acer logo and the windows start up screen as normal. Why removing the battery solved the problem I do not know. Thanks to all for the suggestions, and to Wingsbr for correctly identifying the problem.
