I have a strange problem on my Acer 7720G notebook (PM965 chipset).
The internal Broadcom 5787 is not detected. When I put a cable in the LAN port, no Leds are lit.

Strange enough, the UUID in the Bios has a value, which means that the Bios recognizes a LAN device.

Is there a keyboard combination that shuts down the internal LAN controller ?

What the hell can be wrong ?

The problem is that it is not seen in my WindowsXP installation.
Installing the software anyway and running the diagnostics tool results in a 'no broadcom device detected'.

It looks like it's disabled in a hidden bios or something.

    Hi.

As you said, have you checked your bios?

    Regards

    John.

Well, there is no option in the BIOS to enable or diable the network controller.
Maybe it's hidden somewhere, but I don't know where :(

Hi mate, I dont know what your keybord layout looks like but on my aspire 6920g there's a button on the right and side of my keyboard specialy to enable/disable wifi.

Ive had a verry quick scan of your com on the net and I cant find an over the top view pic of your keyboard layout, but I did notice that you have'nt got the right hand buttons like on my 6920g (at least I couldnt see then anyway), But if i had to take a guess all you should need to do is press and hold ''fn'' and then look at your f1,f2,f3.....etc buttons and see if you cant see anything that looks like a signal type of image in the same color as the fn letters, if you do see an image that resembles that press ''fn'' and what ever f button has the right image and that should enable what your looking for :)
