I've pinpointed my problem to a power inductor. Now I am having a tough time finding a good one to replace it. Here is an image of what I need replaced:

Can anyone help? Does this have a part number? I couldn't see anything on it. Or if anyone has the aspire 5050 motherboard diagram/schematic that would be great.
Thanks.

Can you post a pic of the full mobo? I'm not sure of the part # for that part though. Is it the power relay? (solid state)
Rob
*edit* I just checked my 3050 (same mobo) and I cannot see a part number on that part -
Thanks for the reply.
Same here. No part number. I guess this is considered as part of the motherboard. But it can be replaced individually and that's what I am hoping to do. I just need to find the right part. But have no idea where to start looking. A friend that looked at it said it's a power inductor and could be taken from any other motherboard as long as it's the same shape. He said if he knew the exact specs of the part, it would be easier to find. So I am hoping someone on here would know. Or have diagram/schematic of the motherboard, which would hopefully give us more insight. Any help is appreciated. -
A full screen shot of the motherboard would be beneficial in the search for an identical cap or transistor. Also check and see if there are any other "caps" on the motherboard that match the size of the one you currently use (check near the battery or ac power)
Good work so far finding out what exactly when wrong, you are 50% of the way there!

And he has some pics that he took before he put the laptop back together. Hopefully there is one good enough that I can post up.
I actually myself don't know much about this stuff -
This is the only pic I have. Probably not good enough as it too small.
If anyone has an idea what exactly that part is all about, its specs and/or where possibly I could get one, please let me know. Thanks. -
I'm still reading up on that part and how it works and what exactly it's used for on a mobo for a laptop. It is a power inducer, solid state. I did find some sites that sell these but without knowing the exact spec on the fried part it is too hard. Let me check my old mobo I have in the garage (old panasonic). Here are the sites I found:

Good start there Rob, it would be benifical to see the ENTIRE motherboard from up close.
Don't resize the image and give us the origional so we can zoom in and take a look see.

See, I am having the same problem with this little bugger. I just can't seem to identify the exact specs, hence the problem finding the right one. I've been told finding one that's the same size/shape will do the trick. But still no luck. -
Thanks. -
Does anyone have the part # for motherboard used in aspire 5050-5827?
Thanks. -
Here are 3 more pics. Hopefully, they show enough detail.

Is that the part # for the power inducer right next to the mounting spot? If you look at the mobo there are numbers all over next to certain parts. I wonder..........
Anyone know where to find any info on these parts? Anyone else have an issue with this specific part failing?

Thanks again Rob.
