    The other day I re-booted my 8930G.
Up until that point I had experienced no problems with it since I bought it in 2009.

On this re-boot however, after the Acer welcome screen there was a message that implied no OS found , so I rebooted a second time.

On this reboot the Acer welcome screen appeared with the usual message about using F2 to change boot options, the hard disk light flashed once - and then nothing. No disc spin, no beeps, just this screen.

I tried inserting a bootable cd in the drive - same results.

Not being a techie, my questions 3ares - what has died, is it repairable or is it now a brick?

    Anyone any ideas????

If you enter BIOS does it show a HDD as present?

Sorry - should have mentioned in my OP that although the keyboard is functional (I can reboot using ctrl/alt/del for example) using F2 to try and enter the bios does nothing, so all I can do from the welcome screen is reboot :(
