I got a Acer Aspire 5500Z laptop. It was intruded by tons of virus. I realised that Acer (Singapore) did not provide me with any recovery CD. Now that I am stuck with a crap laptop, anyone can advise me on how to reformat this laptop again to its original state? Much help appreciated!!! Urgent reply please!!!

    Thanks!

Have you tried restarting the laptop, while the Acer logo is showing, at the same time hold down the Alt key and the F10 key?

Use the recovery partition as morpheousman said. Be aware that you will lose all the data.

Hi, and I very much doubt if a new laptop would have any virus's on it either so what are you picking up on?...

Ditto. Don't blame Acer for something beyond their control.

And Acer's are not crap. Some users however give Acer a bad name by screwing things up and blame everything on Acer. It's not Acer's fault.

    Have fun

    Good luck and bye.

Rick, welcome to the forums, but you aren't going to make many friends on the Acer forum by badmouthing 'em like that.

First off, Acer doesn't supply any recovery media because they want you to make your own. You should've been notified on first boot to make your recovery DVDs using the supplied eRecovery software.
Of course, you can also use the Disk-to-Disk recovery method as mentioned above if you didn't burn your recovery DVDs.
If all else fails, you can contact Acer Tech Support, and they will be happy to ship you a set of recovery DVDs...for a price. Consider it a lesson learned, Rick.

Secondly, how was it intruded by viruses? If it was from your own web surfing without an anti-virus, well, it's your own darn fault. If the Aspire is a pre-owned model, then obviously the person who sold it to you didn't do their job.
