Hey guys, pretty new here, just been searching on problems i've had with my laptop so I decided to join up!

First off, I have an acer aspire 5520-5334, it came with a gig of ram and I immediately upgraded it with 2 gigs because vista is just too demanding.

Lately I've had a problem while playing every game possible, including a Halo trial, WOW, Counter STrike-Source, Hellgate, anything imaginable basically. I'll be playing the game for 20 mins and then intense lag comes to play, and its not networking lag, because my other computers on wi-fi run perfectly, without any lag at all, and this one was the same up until a few weeks ago!

Anyway, my question is, I just ran across the warranty because I was thinking about taking this in somewhere but was curious if the warranty was still good. I have a year parts/labor warranty for this baby, and I bought it back in Nov of 07, so its still good! But since I replaced the ram, does it void the warranty? I never noticed anything saying "void if removed" while installing it. The only thing is the ram holders, being cheap plastic, almost busted off and one side of 1 piece is missing. So I haven't touched it since but it hasn't effected the ram in any way, still says I have 1.75 gigs of ram.

Do any of you guys know if the warranty is void because I'm thinking maybe something is wrong with the internals of my computer. I've tried every spyware/malware/anti virus that has a good name and gotten rid of some stuff, but nothing to solve my problem. I'm kind of a big gamer here. haha

    thanks guys!
    -Chris

I think its usually fine to upgrade the RAM, but if the components are damaged in the process then those are not covered in the warranty. Thats what ACER told me when they sent me a replacement HDD. If i broke anything, it was not covered, oddly even tho I do have accident insurance, and it could be considered an accident.

Maybe is your machine getting too hot and it downclocks the CPU and GPU? If so make sure to get RMClock and undervolt to save some battery and less heat.

    Or could it be drivers?
