So I decided to check over my glossy screen with a flashlight and I discovered a bunch of little scratches. This is on a brand new 6920 that has barely been used. I have never found this on any of my matte lcds before. Fortunately the scratches before unnoticable if my head is further than a foot away from the screen (which would be 99.9999999% of the time)
While I was doing that I also discovered one dead pixel I hadn't previously noticed.
I really regret checking my screen like that![]()

but i did have an pixel on my LCD that was stuck and a gentle massage fixed it right up -
i found another pixel (stuck one though)
im running udpixel right now, if it doesnt help in a few hours im going to try the message -
My laptop came as second hand ... and by the dates of the parts on it , looks to have be build at the summer of 2006 .
Today ... (summer of 2008 ) its two years old , and it does have one damaged pixel at the center of the screen , witch looks to have one soft grey color .
With the Acer background picture , looks invisible.
The monitor , yes shines allot , i own the laptop for a month time. and just today i found .... (playing with a diagnostic software ) .. that the screen is made by Samsung.
I am very happy by knowing that my screen are a Samsung one , and i forgive the problem of the little pixel .
As they are so many thousands, healthy , around it

yeah, i freaked when i saw the stuck pixel on my screen.... then i recalled a thread i read on here about rubbing it lightly.... so i gave it a try and it worked
i got lucky.... maybe you will too!! -
**** no luck on the massaging so far
am i doing it right?
im applying light pressure with a cloth to the pixel, and turning the screen off and on again...
i also tried jscreenfix with no luck
i guess i could live with it though, the dead pixel is off on the side and the stuck pixel is near the mid bottom and is only really noticable on red backgrounds
other than the screen im very happy with this machine -
maybe this will help some??

Wow i had never Google about this issue .... but i have to admit that all this (pressure and tapping ) looks to me like ancient cures from witchdoctors with a bone stacked in their noose .
I know allot about pixels on the CCD of digital cameras , i am a hardcore enthusiast hobbyist photographer.
About the LCD now , the above trick of (pressure and tapping ) looks to be a desperate action , to mess with the electronics it self ... ( Not a good idea ) ..
From my point of view, if the pixel it self are in problem, there is no real software solution for it.
darrickmartin you are lucky that you did not messed up your screen,
i would advice to study more the alternative cures , and do not test everything you read on the WEB to your display , especially if you do not have 130$ next to you , ready to go for a new replacement screen .
Thats my 0.2 €
.
Not a big fan of glossy screen
