I have a 5920 with vista. I couldn't automatically connect to my school's wireless (no probs at home or at friends' open networks, just the school's) so I brought it in to the tech people. First they deleted the norton that came with the acer thinking that might be preventing me from getting on and they installed McAfee OAS instead. But I still had to manually create a profile to connect to their wireless so then they proceeded to delete acer eNET management.
The problems arose after they deleted enet. When I turn on my computer the empowering programs start to load but after a minute or two there's a pop up that says 'Acer Empowering Technology Framework Launcher has stopped working'. So i reinstalled eNet Management but the same message still pops up, so I can never run any of the empowering programs for more than a minute before that warning comes up and shuts everything down.
Furthermore, I can't run any of the network menus. I right-click the network connections icon in the lower right hand tray bar, and the menu shows up and just stays on my screen forever, frozen there. can't make it disappear. I try and go to network in the start menu and it takes like 5 minutes to load, along with most other tabs like 'connect to a network.' Some tabs are just plain unresponsive like when i go to 'networks and sharing center' it just freezes, pointer stays a pointer when i try and mouse over any links and i cant do anything. can't even x the dang box out. most everything under the networks toolbar is slow to load or i can't interface with it at all.
can anyone help me? i'm really annoyed seeing as how i just got this laptop a few weeks ago. appreciate the help.
