    Hi

I've installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Professional 32-bit on my Acer Aspire 5920G.
Before I've installed my Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT drivers everything was just fine.

This blinking sometimes happens in period of few seconds, sometimes it can pass a couple of minutes and I think that while I'm in a game or watching a movie, there's no blinking. It happens so fast, so it doesn't affects on anything I do, but it's so annoying.

So I've reinstalled my drivers, this time I've tried those from Acer website (version 8.15.11.8664), but still my screen was blinking. I've even tried drivers for Vista (Acer website) and the newest beta drivers from Nvidia website (195.55) but blinking is still here.

So can anyone help me with this?

    Thanks,

I hate to tell you this but ALL 8600m GT video cards will die due to an Nvidia flaw in the making of this chipset, start saving for a new laptop is the best idea, a cooling pad helps but once the flicker starts it is doomed. In some VERY rare cases it can be caused by the inverter board for the display itself but not likely.

I have had a short flicker too since Acer replaced my Acer 5920G's 8600mGT with a new one (last one completely died suddenly). I thought this new problem had to do with the connection to the screen. Like this: YouTube - acer aspire 5920 screen flicker repair
But since it is only a small flicker I didn't want to make it worse or send it back to Acer for 2/3 weeks again.

Are you sure that when the flickering starts eventually the card will break?
Then I might have to send it back to Acer before the warrant ends & ask them to put another type of card in. Which one?

Or should I ask friends to help me put a better card in it myself?

My 3 year warrant ends in October so I could still save my laptop for future use after this date.

I know the 9500m GS is the same as 8600m GT, or did they fix it & does this show it could have another cause?

There's an ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 on sale, I just might buy that to be sure in the future.
    Plus I read it's cooler.

Try download latest driver version from nvidias site (v257)...
Flickering might be caused by unoptimized powermizer... I had similar issue wuth my 9650M GT and solved it by installing latest driver version...
Here is a direct link to download it:

    NVIDIA DRIVERS 257.21 WHQL

    Hope this will help...

    Cheers
