Has anyone used one of these to replace there optical drive for a second hard drive?

I was wondering if there are specific caddy's to use or are they fairly general?

and if i was to add an SSD for the OS and programs, would i have to put this in the primary sata slot?

I have used it. In ahci mode you can boot only from primary drive inside laptop (I put ssd here). In ide mode all drives can boot, but with ssd - ide mode is bad. So I use big drive in caddy and small ssd in notebook. Also hotswap odd to hdd and wise versa works too!

But the more important question? Which caddy to use/buy?

I hate to bump such an old thread but am looking for a 4820TG verified compatible caddy as well. I got the Fenvi model with the non-removable bezel (eBay auction picture was not correct). I pushed on it with a good amount of force but couldn't get it to fully seat. It sticks out about 1/4" and the HDD is not detected by the laptop. Ideally I would like to use the laptop bezel but any caddy would be OK as long as it installs OK. Thanks!
