Acer Arcade Deluxe IS a decent piece of software.
    Probably b/c it's not made by Acer - it's a Cyberlink production.
Finally rented a Blu-ray disc for the weekend (WALL-E); AAD played Disc 1 right away, but needed an update to navigate the menus on Disc 2.
If anyone's done a clean install of their systems, this is one software to toss back in.
Why bother paying for a Blu-ray player when one comes with yer system? :3

(Note: Acer makes amazing hardware for the price, but the software they design is obnoxiously bad. I remember when they discovered a version of ePower was checking the registry 2000+ a second.)

You forced me to open a lexicon , so to translate the word " obnoxiously " .. :D

In my laptop , ACER did a major mistake , and its the only to blame.

When using erecovery , to back up the current state of the laptop .

The created backup files ( images ) , get stored in a special folder .
If the image files, become as total , larger than 4GB ( a DVD disc ) ,
the erecovery moves the next images outside of the main folder .

If you ever try to restore .... you will fail , the files out of the main folder,
they do no used by the software , and the erecovery hangs at about 90% .

Cure : after every new made backup , I inspect the ACER backup folder ,
and " IF " there is an orphan backup image outside of it , I manually move it in the folder .

My laptop was made at 2006 - 2007 , still this ridicules software glitch remains unfixed .

I believe that ACER in the Great Rush , to bring new models in the market ,
uses all their human resources .
    By this way ,
they are unable to handle major software glitch s, of the past.

The good part is that this software glitch s are few ...
The bad even after three years , no one did something for the specific problem , that bothers and will bother in time , the people with the specific laptop models .

Have you ever tried to get one of the newer versions released by Acer for other models? Maybe they'd work.

When you updated did you mean the Acer Arcade software updated. I ask because I can never update the Arcade software on my end. I go to the live update in the program and it says to set the internet settings. My internet works fine with everything and there is no place in the arcade software to set any internet settings. Which is very annoying.

The problem is that Cyberlink stopped hosting AAD updates.
Go do a Google search for "acer arcade deluxe update" and get the latest patch from that komku blog that's in the results.

    why would you need two.
Teh,bro acer arcade is ok and does the job you ask of it. :)

what we seem to forget on here alot, not all people that ask questions/post are not geeks like us, lol.
been using my new laptop for a month now and im about ready to review it :D

Hmm my version is actually much newer than the ones posted there it is 2.1.5529. The problem I have is I get a black screen with the only bluray i have so far 'Die Another Day'. It reads and then stays at a black screen. The only way I got it to work is to download this program AnyDVD HD which removes copy protection and other things I think to make Blu-rays work better. When that is running then the bd has no problem in Arcade deluxe. I guess there's nothing to do as there probably be no more updates, just to use Anydvd or use another bd program.
