My Acer Aspire One has been making a loud new noise, I hit the power and the fan makes an odd noise, 2-5 times. Like it's "revving" up. It doesn't seem to effect how it runs, just when it's started up. That noise happens. I just want to know what's going on or how to stop it.
I've owned my AAO since 2009, so it's definitely not something I recently purchased and can't just send back or have fixed.
(First question I noticed they asked was how old it is)
This started last week, not sure but doesn't seem related but first the screen looked blotchy (the images weren't as clear any longer) But probably hasn't been going on too long (less than a week) I'm honestly just trying to figure out what's going on here. I actually looked up this problem and a similar topic is what brought me here.
Link to the post that brought me here.
Following that thread I at least had a few suggestions to work with before starting a similar topic, thread was closed so I couldn't bump it and normally dusting off an ancient topic doesn't go so well.
-The hoover idea didn't work.
-I haven't tried the can of air idea just yet.
-I've tried taking it apart, but sorta hit a snag when I got the screws taken out but couldn't get any further than that. It's sounding like it's the fan, so I thought maybe something came loose or it's got dust blockage over the years.
I'm not gonna pretend I know what I'm doing and that's why I came here asking for any help if possible. This is just the first netbook I've owned and I'm only trying to see if I can keep this thing up and running another few years.
Thanks in advance. :hi2:

Most likely bearings, they tend to make a noise only on startup and get quiet after that. In time the noise may be audible also after a while if you tilt a notebook a bit.
Cleaning with compressed air might work for a while (although I doubt it) but it seems replacing the fan is the way to go. -
I'll look around to see about replacing the fan, that's something I don't trust myself to attempt and if that's what you're thinking on the compressed air, seems like the best option. Thanks for the insanely speedy reply. -
Well, you can (and probably should) try the compressed air anyway. For once it's something that should be done once a month or so to clean the dust from the radiator before it gets clogged up. Second reason is that it's unlikely to cause any more harm.
I haven't looked for a fan for you particular notebook but the last time I replaced a fan (for the same reason by the way) it took me a while before I found a reasonably priced one. If your notebook is a few years old, some spares start to be priced like antics -
Which one is it the aod 150?
