Just checked mine via hw info tool it's: Monitor Name: AU Optronics B156XW02 V0
So that would be original screen since I did not change it since it was bought.

Ok I can make official statement now. As farewell experiment I bought Dell M5100 2GB Video card to see how it performs and if it works in my acer 5739G. IT DOES SO BEAUTIFULLY!!!
I was surprised to see LOWER temperatures than from my M4000 (I think new Arctic 6 W/mK thermal pads on memory chips and Gelid GS Extreme thermal paste on the core contributed greatly to this. On the side note ALL of my Fujipoly 11 W/mK pads were really dried and crumbled as I tried to take them off so now I'm not so sure I would use them for other projects since I think elasticity is very important factor but I will see how arctic ones perform.
So far run Furmark V1.17 with 720 preset and from idle @ 45 C it got to 63 C in 1 minute run but dropped right away back as soon as benchmark was over. It scored 1360 points with 22FPS and 60000 ms run time (no AA).
So far no instabilities in windows 10 with newest amd drivers.
Will run 3Mark to see how it performs and temp I get in the process.
Probably will post some screenshots (if I don't forget ;))

Ok run some test in 3D Mark and came to realization that UNFORTUNATELY the talents of M5100 will be wasted in this notebook.
    1. Power consumption never reached higher than 70-75W and power adapter was warm but not hot so my guess 90W is ok for the system set up.
    2. Temperatures never went higher than 78C (from 45C idle) for motherboard chipset they were 46C->81C, CPU 27C->65C during tests.
3.No fan throttling or very high speed detected.
    Now for the bad stuff:
Although it scored 2079 points in Fire Strike demo (pretty close to expected) it scored only half of expected scores in Cloud Gate and Ice Storm benchmarks which made me realize that rest of the system like CPU, RAM, SATA II, first gen PCIe interface and some other small factors are bottlenecks for this card and they are not capable to match this cards power to take advantage of its full performance.
So my verdict, if you have extra money and want more stable or even cooler running card go for it, otherwise I would say M4000 is the top card that can still match rest of the hardware.
P.S. That's why I realized I have to let this system go if I want more powerful, faster running system that can take advantage of full speeds of SSD's, faster ram and CPU's and of course video.
P.P.S. For some reason all of the programs including driver refers to it as R9 200X

Interesting information. Is it possible to you to see how it works on programs like AutoCAD 3D and games?Thank you Sanek1982!!

Games definitely yes, since I run 3DMark (2013) which is gaming benchmark that stresses video and CPU for physics and graphics and it run them without a glitch. As far as AutoCAD I don't see why not since driver has settings for FirePro and recognizes it as one I think.
I think one of the bottlenecks is the pcie bus connector on acer it is 1.1 where card supports 3.0 version.
GPU-z reports pixel fillrate of 12.4GPixel/s texture fillrate of 31.0 Gtexel/s Bandwidth of 72Gb/s
    GPU @ 775Mhz and Memory @ 1125Mhz with 640 shaders

I changed my screen, when your screen broke, you must by serial number. Seller sent you regular same screen but it's not good screen. Blacks not black non vivid, it was glassy not matte. You must say serial number sanek1982 says AU Optronics B156XW02 V0 . 5100m was dx 10.1 like gt240m.I think, no need nessecary if not dx11.

Well in the case of serial number I doubt since each screen should be serialized differently that's the whole point of serial number I think (and I'm not going to disassemble my screen to look it up since it's PIA to do so). As far as glossy or matte it should be mentioned by seller. Also try to remember that some sellers sell grade B and C LCD's that didn't pass factory qualifications to be the best screen that they sell to OEM's so it might be that your looks like that because it wasn't removed from acer or other manufacturer but was shipped from factory as lower quality product.
As far as video card you are confusing quadro NVS 5100m with ATI FirePro M5100 they are NOT the same thing NOT EVEN CLOSE to be honest in terms of performance. NVS 5100M get 7000 points in 3DMark 06 FirePro M5100 gets 18391.
As far as bus limitation they are pretty clear on acer system here's the info I pulled that the card supports and second at what bandwidth it is working in our system PCIe v3.0 x16 (8.0 Gb/s) @ x16 (2.5 Gb/s), I wouls say 2.5 vs 8.0 is a HUGE transfer bottleneck which makes direct x as least of the issues (and it supports 11.1) here's comparison between these cards here.
P.S. According to the specs on comparison page W5170M will be only slightly more powerful than M5100 card BUT it will be direct 12 compatible

I installed Intel AC 7260 (it supports 2.4G and 5G bands) speeds are usually same if I were to use cable (through 2 floors and around 40ft distance) it's specs can be found here

@propolkin An Intel 7260 (the ac version) if you are interested in getting the most throughput out of your Wi-Fi and you are prepared to spend some money to upgrade our router to one that supports 802.11ac.

    Hi,
I currently have the stock T6500 CPU. I changed the HDD to an SSD and the performance improved very much. Now I am looking to upgrade the CPU. Will I see a performance upgrade from the stock to a T9600?
And is there a specific T9600 version that I should get?
I was looking at this on here

Look at P version CPUs if you can afford them since they give same performance with smaller TDP (28W for P9700 CPU which is top of the line for them or 25W for lower numbers which is around 10W less of heat)

Hey guys!!!! i am so thrilled the thread is still alive, i started reading a year ago as a guest. i wanted to upgrade my 5739g at the time but i didnt have the money and time. but now here i am and that is my situation. i wanted to upgrade to a 6770m as lots of people in here but i have not read carefully the listing on ebay i got the card from, so i got an 6770m with green pcb, that the listing clearly declared fit ONLY for HP laptops. so when i installed it, i got the black no response screen off course. i then realized that it probably have the wrong vbios for my laptop. i upgraded my laptop's bios to 1.3311 just to cover that ground but even then black screen and no response. So what do i do now? is there a way to fix my 6770m in order to work with my laptop? or should i return it?? right now i have two aspires 5739g. i bought the second one quite cheaply in order to salvage some parts. both are working right now, but i only have oneworking gpu card (gt130m), which i have to switch around in order either laptop to work :/ . the reason i mentioned the second laptop was to inform i can meddle with one of them if this can help the card work. ideally i want to just fix and keep both of them, but i want to make the 6770m work more :D propolkin i read something helpful from you about my problem on another topic. maybe you can help
EDIT: read some more posts back, and found about the rom chip on the cards. mine doesnt have a rom chip installed

In order for that card to work you have to implement it's video bios into your laptop bios (the 1.33 you upgraded is just regular bios for laptop which doesn't have video bios except for 3 cards I think the gt 130, gt 240 and of the the ATI ones which I don't remember the nane.
I tried to do that and wasn't able to find video bios matching my card but others here did they would have to reply or you can look through the posts and there's a guide that explains how to do it.
How much did you spent on the hp one? If you won't be able to make it work I have one I can sell if you're in US.

i found the implementation guide. i am good at following instructions, but as i understand, its rally dangerous for the laptop to be bricked. i paid 72 euros on the Hp 6770m one... so now i also have to find the vbios of my specific card. thanks for the consideration mate, but i live in greece :/

Yeah there's that chance for that I almost bricked mine (you can also restore it using some boot disk thing but it's more PIA as well) and then gave up but I also suspected that either card the was not good or the vbios that I tried using for it was wrong one (and I tried both HP and Dell vbios but neither work for me).

    Hello, guys.

nem52, when I`ve bought M4000 from HP, I`ve managed to integrate vBIOS into sBIOS. I`ve had some problems with that M4000 and after third BIOS flashing I bricked my 5739G. But, I`ve managed to return it back to the world after using Crysis USB and instructions from user`s manual.

Just for the info - problem was not in the vBIOS, it was in the card itself. As I`ve written ago, M4000 from HP, even if you integrate vBIOS into sBIOS, it will not work as it should.

As for 6770M taken from HP (green PCB, no ROM chip) can be used in 5739G without any problem after integrating its vBIOS into sBIOS.

About killing your laptop by flashing BIOS. There is a chance of it even if you are flashing your BIOS with a BIOS file without modifications. So, you should try it. Just create a crysis disk (or USB) using guides, that are posted on the forum.

so, its not actually game over when the laptop is bricked from bios flashing! its savable...! so i dont think there is any other reason not to try. first of all, i cant find my manual... can you give me a link on making the usb crysis disk ?(i dont even have a cd-rom installed in my 5739G, it died long time ago from no using it i guess..). also i can not find the vBIOS for my 6770... does anyone in here have it? (an extra question, will the bios from any 6770 card work on that instant? or based on the manufacturer and any other thing, may the vBIOS be different?)

an another question now, i found some pages back a fairly cheap (still working) ebay link to buy a M4000, in case i couldnt do something about the one in my hand. so here is my question, firstly why is it so cheap??? i bought mine for 70 euros, the m4000 was like 40 euros, and secondly, is it better from the 6770? you said same pages before, that it is identified by the laptop as an 7770m. that should be better obviously.

sorry for the lot of questions but as i read lots of your posts, i found you are quite familiar and knowledgeable about our little but mighty laptop! :D i was quite ecstatic when by just looking on your signature, i finally found a way to mount a second storage device on my laptop :p the mounting in the cd-rom space was really genius!!

awaiting your reply, thanks in advance!

    1. 5739G Service Manual.
    2. Read this about BIOS flashing and creating Crysis Disks.
    3. 6770M Dell vBIOS.
    4. vBIOS integration in sBIOS using Phoenxi Bios Editor.
    5. Currently M4000 doesn`t cost so much as it was some time ago. So 40 EUR for used - normal price. M4000 is much, much better than 6770M. In our PC`s M4000 is identified as 7770M because it is made on its basis. In Dell it will be seen as M4000 due to special drivers and hardware compatibility. Additionally, you can flash m4000 with 7770M`s bios and use it exactly as gaming card.

In case of M4000 if you`ll use different Bioses from different manufacturers, you can kill the card.

And remember - there is no 100% guaranty that you`ll be able to recover your laptop after failed sBIOS flashing.

And yeah, don`t forget about cooling. It is another theme that is discussed here very close. Without proper cooling your 5739G will die because of overheat very fast. There is lot of information here, in that thread. For example - I`ve managed to upgrade my cooling without too much cutting or drilling and now I can use my 5739G with lower cover attached, whithout cooling pad AND with full performance. Max temperatures under CPU stress test + Furmark - CPU: 83C and GPU 76C.

So if you really plan to put your hard earned money into that old beast, first of all think about cooling.

Hi, my 5739g has problems with USB ports, only one that is reliable is the eSATA/USB port. Others lose connection randomly or when, for example, i lightly touch the plugged in USB device. The problem seems to be in the connection between plugged in USB device and the USB ports pins. I tried resoddering the usb ports, cleaning their pins, bending the pins outwards a bit, but the problem presists. Anyone here know where I could buy new USB ports that fit this motherboard. Or maybe there is some other fix I could try.

Only resoldering or buying a new motherboard. I don`t think that "roads" (don`t know hot to say it correctly) are damaged on the PCB of motherboard, that goes to the chipset.

well i going to, i dont have money for a new one and i love this too much ^_^. sorry for the long time ive been lost but didnt have much time. i have two questions, first does anybody in here maybe have the bios for the 6770 ready and working, so i can try a working copy without fiddling with it myself????

second, i was previously thinking of upgrading my cpu too to a quad, but i read in this thread it can not be done.. why is that? bios again? and if yes, do you think it can be tweaked again?

and even if that can be done, which is the best cpu performance wise to order? i have been watching a Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 in ebay for 50 euros some time now.. is this the best choice if the quad wont work???

EDIT: last week i also got my 2 samsung 4gb ram sticks at 1333mhz and they work a charm ^_^ my lovely aspire is getting the whole upgrade package it truly deserves!!!! they is truly very few up gradable laptops like that, even today

    1. 6770M DELL vBIOS.

    2. It was mentioned in this thread, that our PM45 chipset is the first version. It has ability to work with Quads, but it is disabled by Intel as a factory default (they just forgot to enable it at the launch moment). In addition there is a lack of a special PCB coating on the motherboard, that goes from chipset to CPU socket. The second version of PM45 can be found on 7738G, that comes with Q9000 by default. This laptop supports Quads, even QX9300.

There is a hardware and software tweak (soldering, BIOS customization, Windows customization), using which you, actually, can launch your laptop with Quad Core CPU. But the FSB will be downclocked to 677MHz or 800MHz (don`t remember actually) and only two of four cores will be working. Any attempt to overclock in such state in order to achive normal CPU frequency will crash your system. Thus, there is no real, working possibility to build this system with Quad onboard.

    3. For our situation the best possibility of upgrading CPU is T9900 E0 (SLGEE) or X9100 E0. Second is a very rare version. It is better that you`d buy unused T9900. Many users, that sell used T9900 have overclocked it using SetFSB. It can be damaged or it`s resources are reduced due to overclocking.

Can you guys recommend any GPU with DX11 support? Its very unfortunate that GT240M only supports DX10.1
I don't really care about performance though
Unfortunately I only find overpriced M4000 and 6770Ms on ebay

i have the vbios for the 6770. i asked if somebody has made the whole laptop bios including the 6770 vbios so i can test them without making them myself.

ok so quads are out then... i found these two:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-...786054?hash=item25aac45f06:g:b9UAAOSwq7JT8r84
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-...310044?hash=item3abe45361c:g:1CkAAOSwDuJWz~Iy

the x9100 has a larger tdp, but in cpu boss had some better scores. which one of them should i take. the x9100 is cheaper too.

If you`ll be able to manage a problem with X9100 overheating, as I`ve done to mine (look at the thread pages, somewhere it should be written) than you can take it. If you don`t want to bother with overheating, than take T9900.

I`ve had some time ago combined sBIOS with 6770M vBIOs. Can`t find it now. o_O

Well propolkin... does it worth the hassle of overheating? Does it have even measureble difference? Im counting on your opinion... i saw in the thread before how you managed to control the temps using shims and the fan program. I am all about performance... if x9100 is really performing noticably better, it will be my choice

If you want to overclock your CPU without almost any software modifications, than buy X9100, read my posts carefully about controlling overheating of X9100 C0. X9100 and T9900 are the same processors, first just has unlocked clock multiplier. Thus, in real world their performances on stock frequencies are identical.

If you`ll manage to solve temperature problem, as I did, than you`ll be able to overclock X9100 to 3.6GHz with stable temperature under full load. Even in summer.

But you can buy cooler T9900 and overclock it, using SetFSB. Don`t know why, but I don`t like this method personally. I would preffer to play with X9100.

About controlling your temperature - fan control and shims, these are all good stuff. But the main problem (which many of users forget to notice) is a distance between CPU and GPU radiator. Both radiators must be installed, so each is separated by 1-3mm distance. If they`ll have physical contact - your CPU will overheat your GPU. After some minutes - full system will be overheated.

ok... so even though you have to use SetFSB for the cooler T9900 (but will it still be cooler when overclocked??? noone knows..) , both of them can be overclocked... i guess though that T9900 will never reach 3.6 so this point goes to X9100. x9100 is also cheaper.. point again to X9100..

As now my 5739G is my main computer, and i am experience REAL lag using the P8700 (and i now its the cpu's fault... being 100% all the time), i am sure i am gonna overclock whatever cpu i end up getting... i dont know why you disapprove the SetFSB method but i generally trust your judgement so i am leaning towards the X9100.. Should i order already?? :p (being a former PC enthusiast, having the EXTREME title on my cpu is kind of a fetish for me too :p ). i am just kinda worried about the temps... generally my laptop's fan, even now with 48 C ambient, is always working and loud.

Is there anyone else in here with decent overclock on the T9900 so he can tell us their opinion too? is 3.6 even reachable and in what temps?

About this.... i dont know what do you mean.. i only have one heatsink combined. both cpu and gpu, is cooled by one fan. Do you mean heatpipes maybe?

Sorry for the long post mate.. you should now you already been a huge help to me. Have you maybe checked the ebay posts above? i couldnt find an X9100 marked CO. but must be the right cpu though.

@nem52 T9900 are all E0 stepping, while X9100 are mostly C0 - E0 X9100 are extremely rare, like unicorns. At the same frequency and voltage, C0 runs hotter than E0

    X9100 C0 = X9100 SLB48. T9900 E0 = T9900 SLGEE.

As far as CPUs go, I can tell you my experience with my T9900.

Before I had a P7450, the fan would expectedly barely even reach full speed. However then I installed the T9900 and my laptop overheated as crazy.
I already described in this Thread how I managed to get it to run pretty much stable via underVOLTing (not underCLOCKing) with a neat little tool called ThrottleStop. I kinda used it for my purpose.
I still use it (V4.00 is sufficient for Core2Duo Gen CPUs) even with now Win10 installed.
So no performance loss, but trying out how far I can lower the voltage until the system is unstable. For me I could get the voltage from 1.25V (stock) to 1.0625V (about 25-30% TDP saving, as TDP ~ VCore²)
    Running this for years now.

Gaming is entirely possible with this setup. However Furmark + any CPU stress with shut the Laptop off. Aswell as Intelburntest (Linpack) alone usually. Prime95 is pretty much stable though (except when ambient temps are really high in summer) but only with little GPU load
I have replaced the heatpipes and fan already, thats not a problem , as already stated - this laptop has a very poor cooling system

Good luck with your project. Just don't expect too much. While T9900/X9100 were great CPUs at the time (and still are pretty good with single threaded loads), they are from an old CPU generation and modern Core-i-CPUs hardly have any competition against our Core2Duo

So you havent eevn overclocked it. and you still had overheating problems????? Anyone else in here with an overclocked T9900??

ok i understood that. can you explain me this you have wrote before? ""But the main problem (which many of users forget to notice) is a distance between CPU and GPU radiator. Great thread, for all 5~ year time i had this laptop i thought it had 4 gb max memory. Just somehow stumbled on this thread few days ago and ppl talking about 8 gb o_O? So, txnks guys for all the info in here, just installed 2x4 ddr3 1600 (yeap 1600) and it actually works , it downcloked to 800 mhz tho but works with no problem, still got t6600 but all this info about cpu upgrades making me hyped to upgrade it too. Once again great, juicy info here, pity i haven't stumbled on it earlier.

p.s. is there any working software to control GPU voltage?

So, just installed t9600 in place of t6600. It seems to work good, w7 index gone up from 5.6 to 6.4 on processor and memory scores but some strange things poping out. On CPU-Z benchmark it reaches higher score on single thread and that score is rock solid- doesn't change more than 1-4 points. But on multi thread its most of the time worse than t6600 o_O and results are very unstable - goes like from 1100 up to 1600+ in score while t6600 held solid and stable score of 1375+-5 points. Also maybe worth mentioning that it runs on 2925 MHz instead of 2.8 GHz while using multiplier of 11 instead of 10.5. I did not tried to overclock or anything its just came like this out of package. So could this mean that chip is defective or dunno, bios? Maybe its not just PnP thingie and I am missing something on software part? Any thoughts?

Hello Vyga, i really need your help here, i ordered G.Skill - Ripjaw DDRAM Kit III 8Gb- Bus 1600 and installed but all i got was a black screen, no bios access. After that i swap the DDR back and everything was normal. You said you got 8g of 1600 mhz DDR worked, how ? Did you do anything with the bios ?
Please help because i cannot return this kit and i really wanna use it.

p/s : the only thing i did with my rig was to upgraded to T9900 and a pair of Hynix DDR 2x 2gb 667mhz.

@grimreaper3320 if you have high density modules, that is as expected. You need low density modules to ensure compatibility.

Hi Starlight5, thank you for your reply. Please tell me how do i know if it's high density or not ? And is there anyway i can make it work ? Because i can not return this kit and it would be waste of money not to use it.
Thank you for your kind support.

In my case, I just went to the guy who was selling used RAM modules and brought laptop there so we swapped in few sticks to test and they just worked, nothing else needed to be done. Why yours don't work I can't tell, others guys probably know better why is that. Starlight5 explained that, it seems.

    By the way it's not single 8 Gb module isn't? I mean it's 2x4Gb?
Here what's inside in my laptop, if you wanna know what is working 100% for sure beforehand.

@grimreaper3320 if each module has 16 RAM chips total on it, then it's low density; if it's 8, then it's high density.

@Starlight5 : just as you said, it's a 8 ram chips. So am i screwed ? Is there anyway to make it work like update BIOS or something ?

@Vyga : i didn't had much luck like you did my friend. Now i'm struggling to find a solution for my careless purchase.

@Everyone : i sincerely need your help guys, anyway to make it work would really be appreciated.

You could always resell them or trade for compatible ram sticks at some shop/workshop.
