I was at local store the other day looking at laptops, and I set the resolution as high as it would go. When I clicked apply, I had to scroll the desktop from top to bottom. Is this common, and if so, what screen category (WXGA, WSXGA, etc) applies?
The brand, I believe, was Toshiba. I'm now looking at the 8104 cause it has higher resolutions, but I really don't like the idea of having to scroll the desktop to get to the taskbar.
Thanks!

What you were seeing is called a virtual desktop - it's what happens when you select a desktop resolution that's larger than the maximum resolution of the display.
In short, whatever resolution you selected was higher than the LCD's actual native resolution. -
The 8104 shows WSXGA+ (1680x1050), so that means it should show natively, right? No scrolling?
Thanks for the help. -
Yes, that's right. My guess is the Toshiba you saw had a WXGA (1280x800 or 1280x768) display.
One last question about resolution and screen size
