    Hello every1,

I have an Acer Travelmate 5740G and the problem is that my laptop turns off during browsing (for example) after some minutes. The temperature is always at 59°C somtimes below. When it turns off, I get a blue screen or a distorted screen.

I think that the thermal paste is too old and has to bee renewed or do you think the video card is wracked? If you think its the thermal paste, how to open the notebook to renew it, because its very hard to open it.

    Thank you

Hi. Service manual with disassembly instructions can be found here.
While the temperature you have reported is not exactly great it's also far less than any temperature that would trigger an emergency shutdown (that would be something over 95*C)

While I don't thing thermal paste or overheating are the roots of your problem there's nothing worng with applying new thermal paste and cleaning the radiator from dust.

Hi, thank you very much. I will try to renew the paste and remove dust and see if it will work. If not I will report about it here.
