I've only had my laptop for a year
and it starting to have a monitor problems
purple lines have started appearing on the monitor
as any person who uses a laptop and constantly see a flicker of numerous purple horizontal lines would get annoyed
so i decided to open it up and check the connectors
which a friend had recommended me to have a look at
though im no technician but i noticed it had a triangular shaped screw i couldnt open because of that
so at the moment im clueless what these screws are called anyone can help me?
-
.....There's triangular shaped screws? I don't think there are but if there really are, then try to get a picture of it and it's location.
-
well i dont have the slightest clue cos a friend did it for me and he couldnt find it and found the oddest triangular shaped screws he never seen before but if i can i will do....
atm im thinking of getting a new laptop cos im getting slightly fed up of the screen
though fixing it yourself is better but it only been over 1 year since i had this laptop
so displeased how if it cables getting loose then it get loose pretty easily again
cos im getting them funny horizontal lines appearing on my screen which is a b****!!! -
IDK, I've cracked open my laptop plenty of times and I haven't found triangular screws yet.
-
if not he looking at the wrong place any chance you know any vids or so?
im scared of breaking it apart lol -
Was he going for the monitor cables or GPU?

Sound like anti-tamper screws. Search google for trangular recess, tri lok, tri wing or similar and you should find suitable drivers (screw drivers that is). These are probably present to protect parts ACER consider to be factory service only.
