Hey all,
Okay, so first time posting in a while, and I finally found a use for my orbicam, and discovered that the quality seems to be rather poor, the frame rate is just downright miserable, is that just something I have to accept with the Logitech Orbicam, or would later drivers help? (I'm using 9.4.4.1085 or something like that)

Hey Arla, it's been a while
I've noticed the same poor video quality. The low framerate is due to "Low Light Boost" or something similar in the driver settings. Disabling that will put your framerate up but in anything other than brightly lit settings, the video quality is abysmal. I've tried the Logitech drivers but it just made it worse for some reason. There's some new drivers on the US Support website (surprise eh) that I haven't tried. Maybe you could try those and see if anything is better as I'd like to know too -
Zoom,
Thanks for the info, I had tried downloading the latest drivers from the Europe site but had gotten a ZIP error, and the new US support site refuses to say when things were released (nice idea, now I have NO clue what's new).
Anyway, downloaded the new Logitech drivers (since mine is a very old 8204 so has the logitech camera) and they SEEM to work better, unfortunately I won't know 100% until tonight when I can use it under similar conditions (right now it's rather brighter in my living room than it was last night when I was trying to use it with skype).
New drivers are version 10.0.4.xxx so seem to quite a bit newer (driver date seems to be November 2006, which doesn't seem that new, but is definitely newer than what I had). Also seem to have more options, which may just be because I installed newer drivers or because I choose everything, not just drivers).
So anyway, fingers crossed! -
Quick update, so I did try it again tonight when it's "dark" in my living room, and lo and behold the frame rate went to hell, thanks for the note about the lo-lite boost thing though cause that at least helped it go back to mostly normal. Not the best, and it's now quite a bit darker, but I can always move closer to a better light source!

How is the image quality sans Low Light Boost on the new drivers? Better, comparable, or worse compared to the older drivers?

Unfortunately I didn't ever find the setting with my old driver to remove the low-light boost, so can't really compare.
It's a fairly grainy image, but that would be somewhat expected.
