    Hey All,

I've recently got the kick and started overclocking my laptop's GFX.

Incredibly i was able to overclock quite well but now its being limited by the program, Slider bar was slid to the max.

The mem clock slider is stuck there and i've tried googling for a solution but found none. :(

Your advise will be much appreciated :D

ATI Tool & ATI GPU Doesn't work on my gpu (God knows?!)

    Thanks :D

found the solution.. closing the app and reopening it again moves the slider to the middle with the last clock settings..

down side? to default i've to restart the comp. haha

With the 5850 GDDR3 you will get most out of memory ocing so I would leave the core alone, find the maximum memory overclock, back it off a little and alter the bios to that memory clock using radeon bios editor (RBE).

Yes so I was asking what memory speed you have reached now you can move it further :p

Your picture shows 1040, do you mean 1040 or 1140?

NO Acer 5943g but 8942g. But I guess it is the same 5850 DDR3?

I tried 900/1040 and got 7700 marks. The default 625/800 gives me 5850 Marks (that is how 5850 should score! :)) So now instead of ATI mobility 5850 I have ATI mobility 7700 :D!

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-720QM Processor ,Acer SM82-CP score: P7700 3DMarks

I used TRIXX and overvolted GPU core to 1,15V

    No artifacts.

    Temperature reached 75C.

I noticed that balance between core and mem clocks is important - so if I set 1080 for mem - GPU must be lower than 900 and vice versa. Memory overclocking brings better scores initially, but then it is ok to overclock GPU core.

So my gaming combo is 800/1050. Works flawlessly.

For real gaming you will want to skew the clocks towards memory as much as possible, because the chip is so bandwidth starved it's not even funny. The benchmarks at 1280x1024 may hide this a little, but once you get to 1080p....

yes. 5850 would benefit from gddr5. So I game at lower gpu and higher mem. temp is also lower.

But tests get a bit more from higher core so as lam888 asked I tried 900 core but at that speed mem is unstable at 1100. I tested and mem works at 1080 at lower core (800).
