Okay, it's not something totally unexpected, but when playing with EQII last night I found that with the 8204 on my lap (i.e. heat vents partially covered by my legs) it overheated (at least that's what I reckon was happening, EQII kept crashing and the machine was going full blast all the time).

Couple of questions, 1. Is there any utility to watch the heat of the machine? Every machine I've had until now hasn't been advanced enough to allow those utilities to work, not sure if Core Duo does or not?

    2. Any utility to up the fan speed?

    3. Any advice for using at full power on a lap? I'm tempted to get an upside down box or something so that the laptop sits over open air (and I know they make all those laptop trays, might get one of those too... maybe

Anyway.. just curious, I don't think this is a major problem, but would like to alleviate as much as possible.

You can try Centrino Hardware Control. Also consider a cooling pad, even if you use it on the lap only.
