When I check the chipset reading of the Acer 3680 in linux, it comes back as 945GM/GMS/940GML. Well, which chipset is it? 945GM and 940GML are totally different.

I have had luck with PC Wizard in the past, but I don't have a windows OS to run it on. Has someone ran PC Wizard on an Acer 3680-2633. If so, can you tell me what chipset it is?

Thanks, but I saw that already. The info on that page is old. My model is not even listed.

Maybe you could try running cpu-z and see what it tells you. Look at the mainboard tab and see what chipset it says you have.

You have the Mobile Intel® 940GML Express. Of the 3680's, only the 3680-2682 uses the 945GM. Hope this helps.

OK, thanks. The reason I don't run cpu-z is because it is not available on Linux. I would have to reinstall Vista to get to cpu-Z.

I have vista running again on the laptop. Apparently, the laptop runs an Intel 943 GML chipset which is pretty much the same as the 940 GML in specifcation.

Its probably returns that result because its difficult to say exactly which one it is. There very similar chipsets in terms of the design. Most programs will give more than one result, and only a few, like CPU-Z, can give an eaccurate answer most of the time.

How did you come by this info? CPU-Z 1.41 tells me I have the 945GML in my 3680-2682. Did you just get lucky with your mobo? As has been already been stated, the ACER site is outdated and gives no info on the 2682 revision.
