Hi there, I have posted this in other post, but I am getting a bit annoyed as I can't figure it out.

I have sent an e-mail to Acer but, as I bought my laptop in Dixons (UK retail shop) they told me that I need to speak to the "Tech Guys". These "tech Guys" are.... well... THICK as S*** and don't usually give you any help whatsoever. Their advice was something like... it is not our fault, contact Microsoft as they are the one who developed W7...??!!

Anyway, moving forward, my problem is that, since I installed W7 x64 (clean install) the volume throttle does not work. I am unsure what the driver for this function is. I have tried re-installing the Synaptics drive, the Realteck HD drive...with no luck :(

Does anybody know how to "fix" this tiny but annoyinbg problem??

    Thanks in advance

PS: Sorry for my English as I am Spanish and English is not my mother tongue

I think it could be Launch Manager what's missing.

Correct. It also has to be the correct version for the 8730.

Could you send it to my email address??? I guess you have it as your model is the same as mine and you are also running W7 x64...

PS: I have tried to send you a PM but I can't do it for some reason.
Would you mind sending me a PM and I will reply to you with my email address...???

PS: Or you could tell me the link where I could download it. I tried the one for my model and O.S on the acer website
    http://www.acer.co.uk/acer/service....tx1g.c2att92=122&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=2980211862
But with the same results.... :(

You're right - when I installed Ultimate the volume control didn't work either with the Launch Manager version on the Acer support site. When I got the Acer upgrade kit I installed the specific version for the 8730 and it now works. There are 44 different versions of Launch Manager on the upgrade DVD!
This version is ONLY for the 8730G - it will not work properly with other models. Here it is http://rapidshare.com/files/304747651/LaunchManager_Dritek_BB2_v3.0.02.zip.html

Hi there - I'm having the same problem, just upgraded my 8730G to Windows 7 64-bit and the volume slider isn't working right. The driver on Acer's web site doesn't do the trick. The link you posted isn't working anymore, is there any chance you could re-post it for me, please? Thanks a lot!

Agreed. PLEASE HELP. It says that only 10 dls max and the quota has been hit. please re upload. This is the only thing preventing me from being fully satisfied with my 8730g!!!

That and not being able to find a case to carry it. Stupid 18.4" monitor.

Oh cool, that's another thing I was having problems with as well =). Kind of an expensive backpack but looks like it would do the job.

Anyway, anybody have the Win7 64-bit driver, please?

Alright, I found the driver finally. There doesn't seem to be private messages on these forums, so just comment here with your email address and I'll send it to whoever needs it. It's only around 4 megs zipped so shouldn't be a problem.

Hi! Do you also have a 32bit version (Home Premium)? I have exact the same problem, the leds are lit, and 'something happens' with the volume, but not what it should do..

The drivers on Acer Support website do not work for you?
Launch Manager is in the "Application" section btw.
