I have just installed a OS on my new acer 4420- (came with no os or recovery features).........It doesn't even recognize the wifi..........What do I need to do in this situation? I need to get it online to download drivers.
The only "recovery" cd's I have will not run. They are .ISO files or something.....
Someone help a noob out.........PLEASE !
I do have a portable usb zip drive, but I can't figure out how to transfer files from one computer to the other, and then open and run them.

I'm a bit confused. Is the machine new, or just new to you? Why did you have to install an operating system? New Acer's come with a recovery console on the hard drive. If you haven't made recovery dvd's you can just recover your system using the recovery console.
If you really are starting from scratch with a clean HD, then it's a bit trickier. Your Windows CD will not have all the Acer notebook drivers you need. You need to get them from the website. -
It is new to me...........and I have already tried the alt+f10 recovery and it doesn't work. I assume the HD was wiped completely clean. I installed a new OS, and your correct, no drivers.
I realize I can go to Acers site and download the drivers, but the computer is not online. I really don't know how to transfer drivers via a zip drive. I can get them onto the zip drive, but when I transfer them to the acer, I don't know how to open and run the files properly. I was able to get a ati driver transferred over, but it tells me the driver is not compatible with my hardware.
What would be the very first driver you would attempt to install on a fresh install with no drivers? What would get me online to finish the driver install?
-Thanks, Matt -
Hi, does it recognise the NIC adapter, if it does could you just wire it into your router? Is this a new laptop or one you've purchased second hand?
Chris -
It was purchased from ebay, from a refurbished laptop dealer.
Which driver is the "NIC " thing? I don't see any listed as "NIC"......
BTW, I was able to sucessfully download the graphics driver, but nothing else seems to work.
Which driver will cause the computer to recognize the wifi?
PLEASE HELP with 4420!!!!....please?
