Before I start! This site is excellent and more informative than anything on the web.

I have an acer travelmate 2403, After having my laptop crash I have recovered it by viewing the forum, my only question now is I can not see ACER D: I have ACER C:
and PQSERVICE both as FAT32 My computer originally was NTFS I have made a fair assumption to leave pqservice alone, going by the reviews and its no use contacting acer again I left a message with tech support 2 weeks ago for insructions on how to recover my laptop.

    Can anyone help!

I believe PQSERVICE is the recovery partition. Isn't it around 2GB?

IF you converted your FAT32 system to NTFS during the life of your Acer, you are completely out of recovery luck! I know it's terrible. Acer's recovery discs use an outdated version of Norton Ghost, so you have to have a FAT32 main logical disc to run the recovery.

What you can do to solve the problem is to make your own recovery disc using NLITE and a copy of WinXP. If you have Vista, don't worry about recovery at all - just go straight away into installing your OS fresh.

Thanks for your help! During recovery I was informed that the partitions do not match; so would this mean that maybe only ACER C: use to be NTFS?

The PQSERVICE is 2.92GB (EISA Configuration)
    C is 34.33GB

What will converting to dynamic disc do?

I think I have Vista, if not would I find NLITE on CNET or just do a google search?

If you did convert to NTFS, it was probably just the C: drive.

If you own Vista, don't bother wiht nLite for now. It's going to take a few months before people start slipstreaming a Vista install disc.

nLite is available as a free, basic download. You should be able to get it from cnet.com/download.com without issue.

My laptop just crashed again, same as before!

I installed norton internet security; installed updates before I went to cnet downloaded nlite to my memory stick; went to install and it told me I needed another program; got to microsoft site; noticed 73 security updates; downloaded and installed; installed norton system works so I can run diaognostics and create a backup after my computer was fixed; restarted.
Back to my original problem restarts with acer logo; goes through norton goback; straight to black screen with load error press any key to reboot; pressed a key; same message repeatedly.
Norton go back has only one time entry to go back to 1 minute ago; didnt work.

Before I boot from cd and enter into erecovery again; what would you suggest; does this have anything to do with restarting from all of the installs?
