    Hey Peoples...

Yes, it has been asked... even before this laptop has been existing,
but I am going to ask anyway.

    My laptop is a 1.5ghz C2D, 8600M GT DDR2 256mb (ARGH no ddr3), 160gb 5400RPM 8mb cache, with 2gb DDR2 667mhz...

yesterday, I got a 2GB Stick, (meaning I will have 3GB under Windows Vista 32-bit), and a 7200RPM 16mb cache harddrive (320gb fujitsu) to be exact.

I saw the processor upgrades, and I kept hearing it's fine for gaming unless I'm going to do heavy video editing, photoshopping do it, but do memory upgrade first, and I kept hearing HDD upgrade helps with everyday flow of operation (faster overall, meaning load up, booting, etc).

    Will I see a decent performance/noticeable amount?

    So now, it's 1.5GHZ C2D (T5250), 8600M GT DDR2 256MB, 320GB 7200RPM 16MB CACHE, HD-DVD/DVD-/+RW, 3GB DDR2 667MZ.

My next on the lsit is upgrade CPU to T7300, and if I can, upgrade the graphics card.

Maybe Bluetooth add-on since my phone can support syncing with that junk.

    So yea, T7300, and maybe Radeon 3650 ddr3 or 8600 ddr3

HKseo, you should try to get something faster than a T7300 - it really doesn't make sense to upgrade your CPU more than once, so go for something fast from the get-go. The 5920G is compatible with the newer Penryn CPUs (might need a BIOS update).
Look into getting a T8300 or T9300 - they seem to be the sweet spot for price vs. performance.
If you can get a T7700 or T7800 for less, try those out.

And although the graphics card is indeed an MXM-II card, you need to have a graphics card with an Acer VBIOS. Thus, the 8600M GT GDDR3 is out of the question (since Acer never released one).
You'd be looking at a GeForce 9500M GS (slight performance boost) or Radeon HD 3650 GDDR3 (although there's been some compatibility issues).
The 9600M GT simply doesn't work.

    ah!!! ok.

    will definately look into that.

The 9300 and 8300 has the same price around $175 range, the 7700 has around $150;.

I rahter get the 8300/9300 cause of the 6mb cache.

Finally, with those cpu upgrades my pc can match with my friend's desktop! (e5200, and other has e7300).

but do you think the 7500rpm 16mb and 1gb+ ram will help? thanks

    Uhm, the T8300 only has 3MB L2 cache. The T9300 has 6.

Your system is always bottlenecked by its weakest part. On most systems, it's the RAM & HDD, in a few it's the CPU, and when gaming, it's almost always the GPU.

But all that being said, there is no known upgrade path for the slowest part of ANY computer - the person using it. :)

    Oh, my mistake.
I got the HDD and RAM taken care of, I can't really upgrade the GPU, I would if i had like 8600M GS or something, but I don't think it's worth the upgrade if I spend $200-300 for a new card that gives me few more FPS in games.

    But definaetly, later I'm buying the same 2gb stick ($17 only, i was short of that, it was either 160gb + 4gb or 320gb + 2gb, so i chose the 320gb, 2gb)

CPU, I thin kthe T7300,T7700 or T7800 has 4mb cahce, thats wat i meant. So I think I'll get either those 3, but if I see a deal for T9300 that has closer price to those 3, i'll definately get that.

Thanks for all of the replies guys, i really appreciate it.

in my next purchase of cpus, im definately going to purchase a cpu that has more than 4mb of cache, and newer tech so it won't be as hot as mine.

boruta*** thanks, i did notice that as well before, but thanks anyway.

Remember that if you're going to get another stick you'll need to upgrade your OS to take advantage of the 4GB.
