    Hello!

    After using my 5739G for 4 years, I`m thinking of buying new (or just as second) Acer notebook. But, surfing in web I`ve not found new models with such upgrade possibilities, as my 5739G. The following specifications are mandatory:

    1. CPU - replacable, Intel manufactured;
    2. GPU - replacable, MXM III - Type A or MXM III - Type B;
    3. RAM - replacable, upgradable to 8 Gb as minimum.

    What would you, NBR users, recommend?

    P.S. I`m not so bothered with design, for example. I need new (or just as second) notebook with good possibilities of upgrade. That`s the aim not to buy new notebook after one-two years of using it.

    I think 5739 was the last Acer to employ MXM, so that might be a problem.

    Whoa! O.O Surprisingly and sadly. Thus, I`ve to search another manufacturer, that employ MXM-standard cards in their notebooks. Except Alienware, MSI, Gigabyte and so on.

    Thank you, downloads!

    I think that the last Acer with MXM is 8940G. It is 1st gen core i series (usually i7 720QM) platform with MXM 3 slot and I think with enough room for MXM-B GPU, but you'll have to make custom heat-sink for it. You'll get a quad core, compared to your current dual, but it is 3 generations old tech, so it won't be much of a gain. Why not MSI for example?

    As I know those MSI are expensive too, almost as Alienware.

    yea im getting a Clevo which is what msi and alienware use as their base systems.

    £700 for a 1080p 17.3 inch laptop
    120w slim power supply
    4gb Ram 1600mhz x1 (The laptop supports 24gb in 3 slots at 1866mhz+) (2 slots are Dual channel)
    I7-4700MQ 2.4ghz-3.4ghz turbo boost
    GTX 765M Onboard not MXM 2gb DDR5
    2x Sata 6 ports with raid support
    2x Msata ports with raid support
    still has disc drive.

    I got it as base as possible to lower the price. £70 reduced for not including an OS
    The supplier im getting it from also doesnt void warrenty if you open up the device and re thermal etc

    As is written in notebookcheck, GTX765 is not removable. Sadly.

    Interested in V3-772 G. It can be ordered with two options: GT750M or GTX760M. Is GTX760M changable?

    No, different MoBos. GT 750 is available only as chip solution, while GTX 760M is available as both MXM module and chip.

    Yes, just a chip and they use different MoBos for the various sub-models.
