Planning to move from XP to Vista on 5920

    Hi All...

I am a recent Acer user - this is my first Acer machine. The specs of my machine are as follows:

    C2D T5550
    1.83 Ghz, 667 Mhx FSB, 2MB L2 Cache
    GMA X3100
    2 GB DDR2
    160 GB HDD
    802.11 a/b/g WLAN
    Bluetooth 2.0 EDR+

The machine came with a Linux OS, which I uninstalled and loaded with XP Pro, which I also bought with the machine.

My reseller told me that I could also get a copy of Vista HP by which I assume he means an OEM version. Else why would he mention it! I should get the Vista HP by early next week.

As of now the machine works fine with XP. No issues. I updated the bios and that seemed to help the 'heating' issue - though with ambient temperatures hovering around 37-40 degrees, I dont know if anything helps!

I downloaded and ran the Vista Upgrade Advisor, which informed me that the best version of Vista for my machine was Vista Business, which I have no intention of using. Too expensive for my pocket!

Obviously, VUA also said that Vista HP will also work fine.

    So, here is my question:

I plan to do a clean install of Vista HP. Should I expect any problems? I know that I will need to download the appropriate drivers from either the CD that came with the machine and/ or from the Acer website. But aside from that anything I should watch out for?

One thing that is important to me and that I do frequently is to pair my Palm Treo (WM 6.0) with the laptop over Bluetooth. This I have done with the 5920 with XP and I need to have this facility under Vista. BTW, all the controls - the touch sensitve ones and the ones on the left - hand side work well under XP and I would want the same under Vista too! My net connectivity is only wireless and if this gets crippled under Vista, I'll be dead! Though I see no reason why it should not work under Vista. But since in real terms since I am a mere user of computers and have no detailed knowledge of them, I thought I'd mention it. Better safe than sorry!

Also, while I have read some of the experiences of Vista users, which seem to indicate that there is may be a very small performance difference (some say for the better, others say for the worse) with Vista on the 5920, will the machine retain its snappy-ness which it currently displays with XP Pro?

Thanks in advance for sharing your views, comments and observations.
