I have till Friday to exchange my Acer Aspire 1410 SU 3500 for the SU2300. I am seeing some people show the benchmark is much higher for the SU2300. Of course I would like to have the faster unit and better unit since I am spending $400. I dont do much gaming but I do alot of videos and work. Please advise am I better getting the Dual Core or just keeping my Single Core ? Thanks so much in advance.

If you can exchange it without paying additional money, just do it

I'd suggest you get the SU2300 version too but remember that you'll end up with a smaller HDD (160 vs 250 gb) and poorer battery life (small difference i guess) ... the older version comes with a single 2 GB ram whereas the SU2300 has both ram slots occupied ( 2 x 1 GB each) ....
So the bottom line is that you'd get a dual core in lieu of the larger HDD, cheaper RAM upgrade and somewhat longer battery life....
So its up to your preference..... -
Thank you for the replies. I purchased a 2GB memory chip which I can install if I exchange the unit. I am very happy with my SU3500. I am confused though. I dont like the smaller HD but if I will see a significant upgrade in processor speed it would be worth it to me. Has anyone seen any side by side tests done for processor and battery life ?

There isn't any visible difference in "speed" as such .... but the SU2300 is definitely better at multitasking and in multithreaded applications.... but neither processor is good enough for the serious multitasker and resource heavy apps ..... if you already have a 2 GB RAM chip , you'll end up with 3 GB RAM in the SU2300 version whereas you can use all the 4gb with the SU3500...... I don't intend to add to your confusion but it really is a tough call....

I'd go with the SU2300 -- all the benchmarks show it to be a lot better than the SU3500 and that's a clincher for me. Remember, Flash Video is CPU intensive (as of now) so if you watch any online or local flash video, the better CPU is the choice. -
With Flash 10.1 any and all hiccups are gone with 720p video and SU3500. The SU2300 is a better performer for multithreaded apps, otherwise it's same as or worse than the SU3500. If you look at 3DMark05 or 06 the benches are almost identical between the two CPU's. And considering most games you'll play on these machines are older and less likely to be multithread optimized, you won't see much performance there.
I do agree if you were to buy a new 1410 go for a dual core, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. SU3500 is a very capable processor, especially compared with the anemic Atoms in other similarly sized notebooks. -
Please HELP ! 1410 - SU2300 vs My SU3500
