    Hello all

I have recently done a clean install on my Acer 9804wkmi, following a disaster with the hidden partition.
The OS went on fine, I downloaded all the drivers fron the Acer Global website prior to the install.
Then put everthing back on, graphics, sound, Empowering Tech, etc etc

Everything works fine apart from, there are two drives that will not install, and i've tried everything!

    These are:

    Ethernet Controller
    Multimedia Controler

    Hence, No Internet connection available!

Could anyone please, please point me in the right direction.

Maybe these have to be installed in sequence, I don't know

    Thanks

    Lee

Have a look at the driver CD that came with your notebook. All the drivers for the notebook should be on their, including the Ethernet and Multimedia drivers. Hope this helps.

    Hi

The only CD's that came with the notebook were:

    RAID Bios CD
    RAID application CD

You might try the drivers from the European site. They seem to be better maintained than the PanAm site.

    http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_9800.html

It looks like there are three different wireless devices that could be installed and at least one wired. Make sure that you are downloading the one that you are having trouble with.

If all else fails, download the Belarc Advisor and run it. It will list all of the hardware that you have on you computer and the software versions. You can then do an internet search for these items. Maybe you can get the drivers from the makers of the hardware once you know who they are.

    http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

It's free. It may at least get you going in the right direction.

    Thanks for that.

Just a couple of things, could someone please point me in the right direction.

I have now found the driver, it is an 'Inf' file, however, when i go to update driver and install from 'F' cd drive, it says that that 'The location you specified does not exist, or cannot be reached, as though it is not recognising the CD Drive.

Then if you try to install from a specific location, the 'OK' box on the select folder box is faded out so you cannot select a folder.

The other one says, connect to the internet, but i can't do this as i am trying to install the ethernet adapter!!!

I really am all out of ideas now.

    Hope this is something simple!!

    Please help.

    Cheers

    Lee
