you cannot turn it off but you could undervolt and decrease the cpu clock which lower the temp, power consumption and decrease the speed/eliminate the need for the fan to run when not necessary. you can also tweak the ram and gpu.

look for the XTU ver. 4.2 from the intel website. just be careful though on tweaking your system.

yea XTU only works on newer CPUs, Get throttestop you can downclock your CPU and also put it in powersaver etc.

    Guaranteed to work

Use Firefox for your browser it only uses a single core anyway.

ehh nope firefox has supported multi threading for a long time now.

its still uses a Single process though still (though they working on fixing that)

I have a 4 low power core apu on my netbook and firefox is slow as hell as it`s only using one, single process name.

    Try Core Tune 2

I've been disappointed with what firefox has become. I'm using chrome for the moment. safari is a good alternative as well.

all core tuner does is change the *set process affinity* in task manager which

Also the AMD apus are slow as hell the quad core one for netbooks is only 1ghz. And it will only turboboost to 1.4ghz on 1 core singlethreading. Multitherading its stuck on 1ghz.
This low clock rate also means its onchip gpu is sub-par though its ha some fair oomph

I can see why you would get issues with it.

And just Because a program uses 1 process name it doesnt mean it cant utilize more than one core

use greenbrowser, the lowest ever still.
Also it is possible to switch one core of cpu for any application you use, and then as the result, the cpu will be almost reduced in work, so no heat.
Onlt for games, do not do that.
