Ive googled my *ss off looking for post XP install procedures for SATA drivers. Most folks say it isnt worth it but I would like to try anyways.

Ive come across several different websites/tutorials but they never work. I have never found a tutorial specifically for 5315-2122.

I know about the slipstreaming method and I did try that but for some odd reason I was still asked for the drivers via Floppy which I dont have.

I have a working installation of XP Pro (obviously) but I was just wondering if anybody could help or point me in the direction of getting instructions on how to install SATA AHCI drivers for my Acer Aspire 5315-2122

If you slipstream your driver and still can't see the harddrive during the windows installation this means you didn't insert the right one.
What is your current situation? You have XP Pro installed in ATA mode?
If yes, you could trick XP this way:

I had to install my SATA twice using this method and I can confirm that at least for me it worked like a charm.

sorry that PM got sent LONG before i finished it

that link i sent tells how to PROPERLY SLIPSTREAM the correct SATA drivers

if you see the F6 prompt come up after XP setup starts IGNORE IT

as long as you follow those directions EXACTLY it will WORK PERFECTLY

before reinstalling XP make the NLITE XP DISK with ONLY SATA drivers SLIPSTREAMED.. don't try to add other BS

DONT try to add SP3... make the disk just as described

and then burn all drivers to a seperate CD

then backup any data you don't want to loose

BTW that page and some here discuss how to get SATA wroking after IDE install,,, but it is so much easier to just do it right to begin with

be sure to go into the BIOS
and change the HDD method back to SATA just before beginning the XP install

PM me with other ??'s if you have any

I installed XP Home SP3 on a 5315 for a friend and he is complaining that his notebook restarts in the middle of a game or when he is ripping a CD with iTunes.

When I installed this for him I left the AHCI mode disabled in the BIOS. Can this make the notebook unstable or is this completely unrelated to SATA drivers? If I follow the instructions on here will potentially solve this problem?.
